Hey Friends!

Welcome to My

Woe on a Wednesday Walk

Not an entirely happy post. First you need to know I enjoy going out walking for a few hours most morning. In fact it was one of the reasons why I bought my Samsung S8. I should have just bought a new battery for my LG G5, but I thought I would splurge on the S8 because it has a better camera. Well that was before Steem went permanently into the toilet!

Well now Steem is in the toilet, so what should we do? When Steem and SBD were really flying, I was kicking myself for selling and taking out about half. Now that things are so low I am sorry I did not sell more. With experience trading equities, I am disappointed in myself for not having hedged better.

Not bad for extreme zoom!

Because of how St.Inc have managed or run the show or basically have done nothing to improve the site for ages while only bringing vague promises of communities and SMT's, I never was a confident investor. The lack of communication and lack of any clear progress has been extremely disheartening to say the least. I have not powered down simply because I like to support my friends as much as I can on the site.

Now what choices does one have? Power down into nothing. It is like pushing on a string trying to find a botoom. Investing money into such a mess doesn't seem logical. Waiting to sell on any rise if SMT or communites may be the only answer.

Seriously let me know what you plan to do?!?!

I'm staying! I have met a lot of neat people on Steemit. I'm not giving up yet. I'm not selling - I don't need the money to live on! I like having a nice upvote. My son helped me get started on here and invested in steem. My son on the other hand is a poet/writer here on Steemit and was hoping to sell some steem for living expenses. I truly feel that when Bitcoin goes back up Steem will follow.

Oh I am staying. I cannot see selling at this price. I do want to build my upvote up and have been powering up 100%. However, I haven't invested outside money in because I believe if Dan launches his social thing on EOS, it will be much better and many folks will migrate there.

I would be glad to check out your son if you want me to.

Yes, my son has been talking about Dan and EOS. I hope EOS is very successful!
If you want to check out my son's blog here are a couple of his recent posts.

I'm staying. Weather goes up or down, I don't need the money to live on so for me, I could go back to Facebook or I can stay here and block with the people that I've met and I have a deep amount of respect for given the choice.

Am I sorry I didn't take any money out? I have to be honest with you, I don't believe in regrets because that doesn't get you anywhere except resentful and miserable. I choose to believe that I made the right decision for me at the time. While the extra money would be nice in my pocket, I don't think I will be out on the street. At least not this week.

You would be nice if things would look up I can say that we need to spend our time supporting each other instead of withdrawing ourselves from the site.

Upped and steemed

Tip!

I am all for fully supporting each other! I just wish if enough people complain that Ned might invest a few hours into making the site better and not just ignore it for SMT's.

As you know, I am a fan of Dan and I believe when he finally does his version, it will be the cat's meow!

I was actually considering buying more Steem at this point but I might wait and see if some of the technical issues get ironed out. I was kind of in the dumps about the price of everything but I reminded myself of where the price used to be.

Yes there is a temptation to buy more. I have really thought of putting some of the money I took out back in!

Oh I remember when Steem was under a dime! I think it is a great place because of the foundation that Dan created. I think what ever Dan makes as far as a social network on EOS will be really cool!

I suppose there will be another run if they ever get SMT's or communities going. The question is how low can it go before that happens?

I'm not too worried about pricing. I like to think in terms of risk, reward and effort. It is not really effort if you enjoy writing and showing off your photography or other creative things, so Steemit fills a need for me that way. As for risk, you might be better off investing in some low cost proof of stake coin and minting up some new coins to dump on the market or hodl, but that takes effort, lol.

There could be potentially a big downstream reward and I think time is on your side with these things and tends to erase all the bad mistakes of the past. With that said, I'm still a bit grumpy over missed opportunities, outright thefts and BITTREX groan. LOL.

Hey @old-guy-photos and @tattoodjay

Very Very tough decisions that I'm sure thousands of Steemit Users, Investors, and large SP holders are contemplating.

I've been on Steemit just about a year now and gave of Facebook not long after. Not even a year ago I truly was convinced that Steemit could and would allow anyone with a phone or computer to have a chance at earning real money that could drastically impact their financial status'.

Nowadays - I believe that at the moment - if someone had $50-100k to invest and set up an account, has above average blogging skills or already has established blog - can generate $5000 USD monthly with ease!!

Unfortunately for social media platforms - someone willing to risk and invest money of that size are far and few between.

We know this

So what do WE DO?? Definitely don't sell any STEEM, SBD, or SP especially at their current prices. I think they will not and can not dip much lower without effecting the Steemit Whales money printing gimics...

Follow closely a good percentage of the Steemit 1%er users - not the exchange accts as much but follow their "TRANSACTIONS LOGS" (Powering Down, Withdrawals to Exchanges, Transfers to other users, their other accts, and anything that has a motive reason of WHY??

Many of the greedy/non-righteous Steemit Whales manipulate the market prices, the supply/demand sell walls, the Steemit Reward System, The Steemit platform

(In January of 2018 I had built up my Steemit account to almost $3000 with zero personal investment, and strictly blogging etc - I powered down as the true colors showed more and more of the total disproportionate wealth and influence in here) Today my account is valued less than $100, my UPVOTES are barely worth a penny, but I'm still here posting, commenting, believing that this message on Steemit indeed cam be fixed

Hi @old-guy-photos! You have received 0.1 SBD tip from @dswigle!

Earn daily income on steem: @tipU distributes 100% profit + 60% curation rewards to all investors.

People are in the panic and they all run power down. Nothing in the panic works except you're losing....
I'm here, no matter what....
Gorgeous red rose, dear Paul :)))

Oh I am staying until Dan gets his going on EOS anyways

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)

as for Steem and well I guess most Crypto Currencies at the moment its been a bad year so far and who knows where its going to go.

I have only taken a little out so far and have focused mainly on building up on here, I do love the Community and people I have met on here so am glad to spend my time on here rather than other social media sites even though the value has dropped right out of it.

I do hope that the crypto markets will stabilise and climb again but am beginning to wonder if that is just wishful thinking,

It is a pity so much could have been done to improve steemit and therefore steem itself but as you say not much has been done at all/

Yes it is a shame they made the decision to throw the site under the bus and just work on SMT's. I am still believing that what Dan builds on EOS will be better!

Yeah that is true I haven't really looked to much into the EOS developments I guess I should be looking into that

Well, it's been low before when I started it hovered around $1 and I think it even went to .50 if I am not mistaken....and we just had that nice little jolt before Christmas and for a bit after too....it'll probably go up again slowly. I know some believed it would be worth $100 by this August.

I don't know if I would power down again. I did that once and coming back with a zero balance was really hard.

I'm not living off of my earnings (that's for sure) and I don't need to so this is a hobby for me. My husband and I did well during that time - that was a nice bonus.

Worried? I think I'd be more disappointed if it crashed. I started with nothing and only put in my time and sweat like I would have elsewhere for zero. I have not invested any of my money nor would I. I know some did when the dollar was high and I get that but it's too risky for me.

I'm still going to blog. If everyone stopped blogging what would happen to the pool? Would it dry up? or increase?

Just wait it out. What do you have to lose?

Oh yes I was here for 7 cent Steem back in the day lol. I plan to keep on blogging and upvoting. I just hope Ned would get moving on communities to help stop so many from leaving.

I really believe that Dan will create something special with his social network when they roll it out on EOS! Just have to keep waiting and venting from time to time!

I've been active here for less than five months. During that time I've seen the price drop continuously. I came in when SBD was around $7 USD. Trying to build up any value in my account has been like pouring water into a leaky bucket. With that said, the price could go back up. I think the price of Steem has very little to do with Steemit - it just follows the price of the rest of the cryptos. If you look at the price chart for BTC over six months, the graph is "identical" to that of Steem.

My concern from the beginning has been with the conventional wisdom that you must power up at all times. I powered up as much as I could to start, but I have always tried to have at least a small amount that is liquid.... so after five months I have 333 SP, I've taken about $35 US in cash and about $80 worth of EOS.

EOS is the future when and if Dan starts a new social network. Something like 1.4 billion of EOS traded in the last 24 hours. "Steemit version 2.0" will be huge on EOS - if that ever gets going!

I have total faith the Dan will get it going. I have always believed he was the visionary here and of course with Bitshares. I am sure he will have thought things out and have it just about right before they roll it out.

I agree and I've been watching developments with EOS very closely, while not powering down here.

You have a choice. Either the extremely low price of SBD is a bargain, so you invest in it heavily waiting for it to go up again, or you don't.

I am not sure what to do myself in that regard. I bought in at $5 and now it's $2.50.

Whatever you choose to do, or not do, just keep posting the best content you can. See, here we have Steemit meet ups and a local Orca told me that his focus wasn't on SBD or money at all, but rather meeting new people and gaining as many followers as he could before Steemit really took off on it's own.

I think he was being overly optimistic, but I also think he has a great perspective on things.

Is your focus the value of Steem (we've all lost money) or on building friendships and making new connections with great people?

There's a reason we migrated away from YouTube.
