Today, I was playing with steemsql.com and looking at some comments and there's been talk of spam happening. So, wondering if I could do
#myexperiment to use steem.sql to look at 2nd level comment presumably from the author responding to the person who left a comment. Below is a table of comments in the last 24 hours which I extracted and believe it's the author responding to spam. I extracted the comments based on some criteria. This is by no means fool proofed or exhaustive but I thought I just draw it out for you to see can comment and decided for yourself. You can probably learn something about responding to spammy type of comment. I'm sure I did. You can click on the link in the RESPONSE column to see the original response in the post.

We always cross check before we flag ⛳️ .
A few more just simply commenting , thinking they can get away with it.
As Curator for Whalepower project, I will flagged when I see unsuitable comments not fit.
We also now Rewards those that doing good comments.

OK, this is weird. Table display is truncating the right most column which is the "RESPONDED TO" column. I did an inspect from Chrome and the data seems to be there like I saw when I preview. If anyone knows how to resolve this, I'll very much appreciate it.
Never mind. Work around by changing the order of the columns. Weird.

I've seen spam comments quite a bit and authors responding to them just by clicking and browsing, but it's helpful to have a collected list of samples and responses right here :)
This is probably just a percentage. Those responded to. Wonder what about those not responded? Now, that's another use case.

With more awareness, I also start to choose some to mute.
Does mute mean that the users can't comment on your posts anymore?
No, it means if they do, their comment are hidden till you reveal. Kind of like #nsfw post of comment you have to reveal here. :-)

It is a problem.....as you have posted here....certainly on a larger scale and across the board than one probably realizes.
At least the flag clearly states when it can be used and comes with a slider.
