Jen’s Movie Review: The Foreigner
Jackie Chan is back everyone! This time he face off with Pierce Brosnan -who would imagine that? The rush hour man Vs Mr Bond. The movie is based on a novel called ‘The Chinaman‘ by Stephen Leather. Jackie Chan produces himself this movie and at the age of 63, he still can kick ass.
At the time of writing I already watched other movie, ‘The American Assassins’. Will do a review soon.

Review
Jackie Chan featured as an old, weak father contrary to his past characters. In this film he showed a lot of emotions that connects to the audience, something that we haven’t seen since the ‘The Karate Kid’.
Don’t hope too high though, the plot moves quite slow. As the plot moves, it began to give sense with the help of Pierce Brosnan character ( Liam Hennessey).
Pierce took the role of Irish Minister. One thing that is glaring though is his accents. Now i’m not that familiar with Irish accents - the closet to me about Irish is the facebook page of ‘Foil, Arms and Hog‘ that I liked. I think he do not nailed that perfectly BUT! I leave it to Irish people to decide. I also think that British accent is much easier to immitate by Hollywood actors. Irish? they need a special class.
Cuts and Bruises
This is still an action movie with but it is not a typical Kung Fu fight scenes. Jackie took it slow, painful and intelligently. You feel sorry for him while watching.
Politic
Pierce Brosnan character sums the political issues of Britain and Ireland. Jackie leave it late to uncover the whole drama. In between, it is a fight of an old dad with a dirty politician.
My take
It’s good to know about the dispute of British and Irish for a change. We have been fed about the problems from the same part of the world.
Overall, I kinda miss the old Jackie Chan. The funny and nerdy plus the one who can pull a good fight. This movie however showed a different sides of Jackie Chan. A must watch for action lovers and politics.
Never push a good man too far
That is the words best describe this movie. It is also great to watch how Jackie starred in more serious action movie.

Hey hi @chickwithflicks . Wow this a way back review. Yeah I found it unconvincing but the fact i did not know Irish so well so I just compared it to the other actors in there and Hoil, arm and fog.
