💎 Diamond Thought #3 - simulation

A very powerful thought that I am about to share with you today from a great British biologist, humanist, professor - Richard Dawkins. Here is a Diamond Thought of his:

“Survival machines that can simulate the future are one jump ahead of survival machines who can only learn on the basis of overt trial and error. The trouble with overt trial is that it takes time and energy. The trouble with overt error is that it is often fatal. Simulation is both safer and faster."

The main idea behind his words is that in order for us to save our most valuable costs in life - time and energy, we have to simulate and learn from OTHERS who have already achieved our desired outcome. Makes sense? Who are you simulating or planning on simulating in upcoming time? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

One of his books I've read and suggest reading is called The Selfish Gene (link to amazon in case you would like to purchase one).

Hope you got some VALUE out of this post!

So here was a Diamond Thought #3.

Stay tuned for more DT's coming up! Only here with @wild-forest.

What is a Diamond Thought? It is a quote, idea or simply a thought taken from somewhere (like great achievers, movies etc.) that gives a lesson, a meaning, an answer for greater improvement in life.

This reminds me of a saying from my country, roughly translated it goes something like this "A fool learns from his experience, a wise man learns from others'

Who am I simulating? hm... I always try not to compare myself to others but only to myself from the past, seeing if I improved or not. The important thing to notice in that sentence is TRY :) When simulating, I concentrate equally on those who are in any way somewhere in their lives that I want to be and on those who are somewhere that I do not want to be, trying to learn from their experience.

Our time and energy really are the most valuable things we have and we need to use them wisely. Thank you for this excellent post, it was a lovely and inspiring read, educational too at some points :)

Thank you, Petra for taking your time! That saying you've shared is so on topic and says it all.. :) As you mentioned, sometimes we should definitely learn from others what NOT to do. Abraham Lincoln said it too: “I learn from everybody that I meet, but sometimes I learn what not to do.”
I think you are doing great with simulation! Sorry for late response :)

Inspiring article. And optically really attractive!

I started thinking it over how I would live it. Looks like I am on the better way. As a visionary type, I work a lot with imagination and before I start realizing a project it is already done in my fantasy. From NLP I got the confirmation. We need to create with all our senses...

However, in my reality, gardening was the trial and error thing. You can read books about gardening but it will never give you the informations you need for your specific situation. In my case, a big area of ruined farmland was almost „Mission Impossible“ and the rest is a long story which I perhaps will tell in a humorous way in bits.

Looking forward to your next posts!

Wow, thanks for such long but valuable reply, Martina! You seem to be like Nicola Tesla who also projected his future creations in his mind before the actual physical realization :)

And I totally agree with you that in some instances there is a must for trial and error. Like it happened for you in gardening :)

Thank you for your time, Martina and sorry for late response :)

The garden story: In some cases, I could have been smarter. But nature brings a lot of unexpected situations, too. After all, looking back, you know better. My present situation however, confronts me with sheer unsoluble situations again. Gardening Is never a bore! :)

Hello @wild-forest,
Thank you for sharing this quote with us!
I totally agree with you and that's the reason why I think reading is so important .. People are putting there most valuable thoughts of life in a couple a hundred pages and give you access to it.
Right now I can't specify just one person - I try to keep which seems to be working from different people. What about you - who is your source of inspiration? 😊

Hey, Rob! Sorry for late response. :) Agreed, people dedicate their lifetimes so that they can fill those pages and give it to others! I don't have just one source but some of the great ones for me personally are Simon Sinek, Leo (Actualized.org), Tai Lopez, Tony Robbins. I believe we get most when we combine all things in 1, being a renaissance man. What about you? :)

Yes..! Spread the motivation..! I like it..! 😍😍

Thanks for stopping by, Clara!
