WHAT'S GOING ON IN OUR COMMUNITY LATELY?
Lucky here with a very brief recap on a couple things of extreme benefit to the community that have recently happened. I don't have much time to go over this, but I wanted to share a little information on this amazing new contest hosted by @greetersguild, some other contest events in the community, a new group development that is something of beauty and the work of some awesome contestants in Operation Save A Newbie. All of this is amazing information, so please take a moment to take it all in and explore all of the links offered up in this post. So for those who are not in the know, Operation Save A Newbie is an amzing community growth oriented contest event hosted by @greetersguild. In this event, new Steemit users with quality content are sought out and asked to bring links to their latest articles to be entered int he main event of the contest. Aside from that, there are two bonus events in the contest that entail greeters being rewarded for doing exceptional work and people being rewarded for bringing new members to a couple curation trails that SGG utilizes to reward deserving people with upvotes. The rewards for this contest event are vast, mainly consisting of numerous shares to @steembasicincome, which are up for grabs by contestants, greeters and out supporters. A few days ago I finally had the time and resources to move forward with launching a community initiative and group by the name of @breakthecycle. The mission of the group is to provide support, resources and knowledge to individuals and groups in the Steemit community that will aid in battling addictions, helping people live a healthier lifestyle in the long run. Based on my personal experiences with addiction and my drive, as well as passion towards the issue, Break The Cycle was formed to help people enrich their lives and find 24/7 help whenever they are in need. To date, a few folks have reached out, utilizing my experiences and compassion to work on their situations. It is already proving to be a great success, but still needs the support of the community. Sharing the page, it's posts and interacting, as well as resteeming and upvoting, will go a tremendous way. Monetary donations are also accepted @breakthecycle to help build the program and extend the reach as well as capacity it has. Currently, the Discord is undergoing serious construction and will be ready to host live, interactive group support meetings geared to two opening topics, drug/alcohol addiction and life struggles. Group meetings are expected to begin mid-end of this week coming!

Thanks for all the hard work and effort put into this post and all the others you do to help the community. Everyday I am more and more amazed at how many people there are dedicated to lifting the community up.
It is my absolute pleasure and responsibility @energyaddict22. Being a father, I decided it was time to work on building a world that my daughter and future children can live in with less worry than the one I had to endure. There is nothing that I wouldn't do to see my fellow man, and the communities on here, blossom and flourish :) Thank you for your kind words and support, I hope I get to see you in some of these initiatives out i the front lines with me ;)

Very interesting.. I was wondering when the "recovery community" would find its way onto Steemit--it would be a great place for it. I myself had 9 years "in recovery--" totally "sober:" no alcohol; nothing except caffeine and nicotine (even quit that for a while), but could no longer deal with the whole "religious," God-aspect of it all, and decided to "take my will back." It's been an interesting journey since; both good and bad in its own way. But I definitely do not regret my decision. I now adopt a more "middle of the road solution" ;) It is possible to "control and enjoy" one's ingestion of substances--but, to each their own! Thanks @terminallyill!

Oh, absolutely... I'll find you on Discord in a minute :) i'm gjones17 on there. But yeah, this was in USA, and the main "flavor" of recovery here is basically Alcoholics Anonymous-based recovery, which started as a Christian organization, and although they state they promote merely a "higher power," it is still quite christian overall. And anyway, I was tired of praying and doing all that shit lol. I wanted to run the show for a bit ;)) (Got me a Master's in Psychology, so, couldn't have been all-bad lol)
I honestly hope you will volunteer with us to run meetings and build this one of a kind program 😊
