WHAT IS THE STEEMIT GREETERS GUILD?
Hello ladies and gents, thank you for taking the time to read this article, I guarantee it is worth your time and efforts! For those of you who do not know me, my name is Devon and I go by the pseudonym Lucky. I have been on Steemit a few months and have personally had a true roller coaster ride the entire time. In the beginning of my journey, things were amazing, I was in the beginning phases of building my account, getting a good amount of pub and even had great payouts for a minute. Like nearly everyone, I started here with no education to the platform, which was a factor in some of the mistakes I made that damaged my ability to grow and succeed on here. With that being said, after a while, things became stagnant and I nearly had given up on continuing to work on here. I was on my last legs so to speak....
That is until something happened that changed my life
It was like any other day on the platform. I was spending hours creating quality content on Steemit, only to have it seen by a few people and make a few cents of SBD. It was one of the most demoralizing experiences on here to be honest. But all of that changed in the blink of an eye from a simple act of kindness and compassion from a few incredible members of the Steemit community. These three helped me showcase my work, gain recognition, helped me grow and put me off on the right track. They did all of this for me with nothing to gain on their part out of complete selflessness. Since that moment, those three have become great friends and associates of mine and together we created an initiative that will replicate their actions that changed my life personally. Together the minds of @davemccoy, @markkennard, @cryptkeeper17 and @terminallyill created something that will change the lives of other new members to the Steemit platform.....
AND SO THE STEEMIT GREETERS GUILD WAS BORN
WHAT IS THE STEEMIT GREETERS GUILD?
Steemit Greeters Guild, also called SGG or The Guild is a new Steemit based community initiative formed to promote growth and success on the platform by utilizing compassion, education and camaraderie. By reaching out to new members of the community or members who are struggling, SGG is able to welcome them with open arms, provide them with advice, give them their well deserved place in the spotlight and help them with their journey on the Steemit platform. Our mission is to create a pillar to the community that will accept quality authors into the community on a daily basis to build them and properly equip them for their future endeavors not only on the platform, but in life in general. That is just the beginning of explaining who we are, believe me there is so much more!
WHAT EXACTLY DOES THE STEEMIT GREETERS GUILD DO?
To answer this question as effectively as possible, I am going to break down some of our key functions to shed light on how we operate within the community. Every action our members take is for the long term betterment of not only the folks we are reaching out to, but for each and every one of us on the Steemit platform. We are firm believers in the term "paying it forward" to say the very least. Many of us take experiences of compassion and hospitality that have effected our lives on a positive note and we return the favor to other members of the community. Below are just a few of the things that we do.
SGG MEMBERS GREET NEW STEEMIT USERS ON A DAILY BASIS
First and foremost, SGG members frequently cruise the #introduceyourself and #introducemyself areas of Steemit to locate quality newbies and read their posts. We then greet them and interact with them, showing them that they are a welcomed addition to the platform and to let them know people out here genuinely care about their creations. We share our advice, we educate them on how to grow and produce quality work, we show them around and we essentially provide a foundation for them to build upon while setting them off in the right direction. SGG members will utilize a plethora of methods to ensure that a deserving new addition to the platform can maximize their exposure, growth and networking to promote a positive growth trend across the entirety of Steemit. During our greeting of new members, we answer any questions they may have and refer them to our interactive training center/classroom on our Discord channel. All of this will build a new Steemit user tremendously by increasing their ability to socialize and network, increasing their ability to work efficiently on Steemit and also by building self confidence as well as a feeling of acceptance.
WE SEND NEW USERS TO SELF ENRICHING CONTEST EVENTS
One amazing tool that we use to help a newcomer grow is the use of contest events which not only give back to the community but offer prizes and rewards that are designed to help an individual see long term rewards. Such events are typically hosted by outside sources, though quite a few of our members including myself host our own events in hopes of promomting positive trends within the community as a whole. We frequently partner with initiatives such as Steem Basic Income, where sponsored members gain long term rewards from upvoting, building a consistent long term income and helping a new user build their SP over time. These events are announced and referred within our ranks to upcoming members of the Steemit community on a daily basis. By bringing a new user to such events, we encourage interaction with other members and we encourage new users to provide the highest quality content as possible as a showcase for the events. This will help new Steemians in numerous obvious ways.
WE CONSTANTLY TRAIN AND EDUCATE NEW STEEMIT USERS
One of my favorite things to say is that knowledge is power. This statement couldn't have more truth to it, as it is proven that on the Steemit platform, the more you know the more you grow. We find new users on a daily basis and welcome them to this amazing platform as part of our duty to the community. During this time, we address and provide insight on the many questions a new user has, from how to's all the way to general advice. If a new user doesn't know how to use markdowns, we explain it to them or point them to one of our members who can help them. We also host a two chat rooms within our Discord channel that are utilized to educate new users as well as more experienced users. From an interactive classroom to an archive of tutorials and self help articles, there is something there for everyone. One thing you can be sure of is that the Steemit Greeters Guild is here to teach people in any way possible, helping them gain invaluable insight, wisdom and knowledge!
WE GIVE NEW USERS THEIR TIME IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Another very interesting thing that we do withing SGG is that we frequently promote the creative works of the folks we reach out to. Through several outlets, we will find high quality material and content to resteem, upvote and share in large numbers across the entire community. By utilizing our partnerships as well as the members within our own ranks, we can take a piece of amazing material that may have normally been overlooked and give the author the publicity that it truly deserves. SGG itself as well as certain members of SGG are also obligated to locate deserving Steemians and write posts about these members to share with their followers and the community, increasing the new user's exposure and reach. We also have a chatroom in our Discord server dedicated to the finding and promotion of quality posts to help us efficiently change the lives of community members on a daily basis!
WHAT DOES THE STEEMIT GREETERS GUILD OFFER MEMBERS?
You now know our purpose, our goals and some key ways that we function, but you haven't heard how we support members. Aside from the fact that we offer members a chance to be a positive contributor to the growth of the Steemit platform, we also do offer a few forms of financial rewards for our hard working members. This comes in various forms, but I will stick to the key points. First off, SGG membership is divided into four tiers, all based on contributions, skills, seniority and other factors. Each tier has a reward class, meaning a set contribution that SGG makes to their personal growth. SGG will automatically upvote every post from a SGG member, issuing rewards to their content. The level of this reward relies on the tier level of the member receiving it. This is a lifelong contribution from SGG as long as the person maintains membership. Keep in mind this number will continually grow in time as SGG does, making this at one point not only incredibly fruitful but a great way to reward members for going out and building the community. This is just one way.
The Steemit Greeters Guild also has the prosperity and growth of our own members in mind on a daily basis. We will do anything within our power to educate our members, put them in contact with people who will help them grow and we will also ourselves ensure their growth by promoting their works and achievements. From contest events to random rewards offered as bonuses for doing a great job, your success is guaranteed to be our top priority. Any member who contributes to the growth of SGG will reap bountiful rewards as this amazing group grows and solidifies it's stance in the Steemit community. Now is a great time and opportunity to get on the ground floor of an up and coming initiative that will one day set the standard in humanitarianism across the entire Steemit world.
CAN I SUPPORT THE GUILD WITHOUT BECOMING A MEMBER?
Absolutely! You can support the Steemit Greeters Guild in many ways aside from membership within SGG. For those of you out here that appreciate the cause and support what we are doing, I will provide a few ways you can support us without having to obtain membership and dedicate your time to our efforts within the community. For starts, you can always help us grow our contacts and help us build our initiative by having allies we work with to reach our goals. HOW CAN I JOIN THE STEEMIT GREETERS GUILD?
Joining SGG is incredibly easy, given that you are on the same page as we are and you yourself are the producer of quality content. First, swing on by to @greetersguild and let us know that you are interested and join us on our Discord chat server. When you first join, you will be given the title of trainee, where you will be coached and educated by existing SGG members and given the tools needed to properly complete the tasks you are given or asked to complete. Once you have completed such tasks and have shown your ability to contribute to the growth of the community, you will be promoted to Tier Four which is the opening level of SGG.
