Hello Steemit Fam! Welcome to Food Adventure #17!

Today we visited Sushi Edo for their grand opening sale in Westfield Garden City for their $2 per plate SPECIAL!

WELCOME TO: Sushi Edo!

Sushi Edo is a growing Japanese sushi franchise in Brisbane (Australia) that just opened their 7th store in Brisbane last week in Westfield Garden City, Upper Mt Gravatt. They offer delicious and fresh plates of sushi on the "Train" conveyer belt in the center of the restaurant and also have iPads at every other table to order all the sushi you can dream of. Apart from the high quality of food, one of the best thing about Sushi Edo is the pricing! All plates of sushi are normally offered at a fixed price of $3.80 per plate, which is pretty good in Australia (excludes sashimi, a few a la carte options, noodles and rice bowls).

We heard about the $2 grand opening sale and couldn't miss the opportunity for (almost) HALF PRICE sushi so we decided to line up for our sushi fix! Needless to say, they were EXTREMELY busy! It's lucky that I had something small to eat before we arrived so I wasn't dying of hunger while we waited for our number to be called. We arrived shortly after 5:30 PM and were given ticket number "292". They were only seating number 220 when we arrived so we had a bit of a wait ahead of us! It was also lucky that we arrived early as they stopped giving out numbers by 6:30 PM and were simply turning other customers away due to the sheer number of people that were already waiting.

Number 292!!!

Our number was finally called after patiently waiting for just over 1.5 hours! What a relief when the doorman screamed our number out - our ears were getting deaf from listening to him yell numbers out for the past couple hours. His poor voice!

We were quickly escorted to our booth and we wasted no time in ordering up on our favourite sushi dishes to take advantage of the $2 special. The service and delivery of food were surprisingly extremely fast so the restaurant and all the staff were very well prepared for the opening special.

Order, Order, Order!

The 6 of us quickly piled into our little booth and started ordering away on the iPad screen. The food started arriving minutes later and the table was soon filled with sushi plates. We had to eat fast so we could stack our plates up to make room for all the plates that were still coming! We mainly ordered from the selection of Nigiri, Aburi (blow-torched), Small Rolls, Hand Rolls and Side Dishes.

Favourites:

  • Aburi Salmon
  • Aburi Wagyu Beef
  • Aburi Hotate (Blow-torched Scallops)
  • Salmon Nigiri
  • Grilled Salmon Hand Roll
  • Takoyaki
  • Chicken Karaage

Picture Time!

I couldn't take pictures of everything as I got carried away with eating but here are some pictures of the sushi we ate. The food wasn't presented as nicely as expected but I forgive them because of how busy it was and the EXTREMELY fast service they provided.

47 Plates later!

We were all super full by this part of the night, satisfied from all the delicious sushi! I had quite a bit of my favourite Aburi Salmon and was definitely "sushi-ed" out by the end of the night 😋

Waaa! Those are loads and loads of sushi! I'm amazed that you finished all 47 plates! I'm not a sushi fan but I should be more adventurous when it comes to this type food. Now I'm curious how they all taste like!

The raw sashimi is not for everyone but I absolutely love the salmon! Perfect with a bit of soy sauce and wasabi. There a plenty of other types of sushi that you can try though! I'm sure there will something for you
