Marang is tropical fruit that grows in Negros and other Visayan provinces. I am not sure if this fruit also exist in Luzon or Mindanao area. This fruit has resemblance with the jackfruit, with unpleasant odor like Durian and very delicious if taste it. You might think that this fruit is not good because of its odor, but I assure you if you are going to taste it you cant stop your self from picking the content.
Lacarlota City in Negros occidental have the best quality of marang ang lacarlota is 1 hour and a half away from Bacolod the capital city of Negros. The marang is cheap and you can buy 10 pesos per piece or 3 pieces for 20 pesos.
This month is the season of marang, where you can find some vendors selling these on the streets. Some of the vendor got their supply in Lacarlota, because there are consumers that is asking if the marang is came from Lacarlota.

The maximum size of marang is like a foot ball and usually have circle shape. The seeds is same with jackfruit, the difference is you can peel the marang with out sticking it into the food content, which is easy to pick it one by one.
Marang is not advisable to people with hypertension, because the fat content is very high like durian. That might trigger high blood or cholesterol level will increase.
Marang taste has similarity with the lychees and softness like rambutan fruit. If you are fun of exotic fruits try to visit Negros province. The island is very rich in agricultural resources, culture, beautiful places and amazing people " The Negrosanons "
