Paradox

In the middle of the dark night of that ocean world, the ship would drop the phytoplankton-carrying spheres, which would soon begin to reproduce in those nutrient-laden waters, and would begin its work of transforming carbon dioxide into oxygen, which could be breathed in by the life forms coming from Earth.

-How many spheres are left in the cargo bay? -asked Arnold, checking on the screen the instructions that had been left to him, for the deployment of the spheres.

-Two clusters of one hundred Arnold spheres, - replied MARTIN, the ship's AI.

-Well direct us to the next coordinate, -said Arnold, looking at the mission map, where the two remaining targets were indicated-. We are still on schedule and we have enough to finish the job -he said to himself.

He recharged in his seat, while the curious, disc-shaped ship moved quickly and quietly to the next location. As he watched on the screen, miles and miles of sea pass in front of his eyes, he thought of an ancient story told to him by his teachers at the academy.

For many years before and after the great catastrophe, and supposedly even after humans migrated to the colonies within the solar system. Many people, perhaps out of ignorance or who knows if by some strange feeling of insignificance, believed that life had not emerged on Earth, but had been planted by some mysterious and strange customs, alien civilization.

Today, several tens of thousands of years after not living anymore on Earth, after having met two intelligent extraterrestrial species that evolved long before and after humans, and of knowing and cataloguing several hundred thousand forms of simple and complex life of extraterrestrial origin.

Humans were clear and convinced without a doubt, on none of the almost four dozen planets they inhabited today, that the human race and all life forms that once existed on Earth and now populate part of the galaxy originated on Earth.

Thanks to the fortunate combination of a set of environmental factors characteristic of the planet, which led to the emergence of simple life forms from an apparently small amount of proteins and amino acids, which after millions of years of evolutionary drift, came to create the biological variety that is known today as originating from the Earth, which is less than one percent of what it became before the great catastrophe. All this without the intervention of any form of extraterrestrial life.

What was incredibly paradoxical about all this, Arnold thought, was that it was about intellectual ramblings, a boring biologist and environmental engineering division pilot, who at this time was doing what his ancestors several tens of thousands of years ago had thought had made aliens on Earth, sowing life forms on an almost sterile planet.
