—¡Alerta!, desacoplamiento del módulo de emergencia activado… —gritaba la IA de la nave por sistema de comunicación de abordo. Los seis tripulantes sobrevivientes ya se encontraban asegurados a sus asientos, alrededor del pilar central del vehículo con forma de tazón boca abajo que adornaba, como una especie de sombrero la parte superior de la enorme nave en forma de lágrima, que se desplazaba a gran velocidad, girando sobre su plano, descontroladamente.

La Osiris, una nave de reconocimiento y exploración del ejército, había salido de Apolo con destino a Calíope, un solitario mundo, escasamente poblado por vida vegetal, cuya terraformación fue abandonada por orbitar una estrella binaria a un agujero negro y cuya órbita empezó a decaer varios cientos de años después de haberse iniciado la modificación del planeta. Quedando para ser usado mientras fuera posible para ejercicios militares.

«Durante el trayecto un error en el curso, nos llevó a encontrarnos casi de frente con un meteoro, de los muchos troyanos en los puntos L4 y L5 de la órbita del planeta. Logramos evadirlo con dificultad, sin embargo, durante la maniobra, varios fragmentos menores que flotaban atrapados por la gravedad del asteroide mayor, impactaron en diferentes lugares de la nave incluyendo las proximidades del reactor de energía de vacío y la zona de habitaciones de la tripulación.»

«Logramos llegar a la superficie de Calíope, descendiendo cerca del monte Vesta en la Gran Llanura de Minos, mientras descendíamos pudimos ver los restos de la nave incendiarse y estallar al ingresar fuera de control a la atmósfera del planeta, estuvimos en el lugar de nuestro descenso esperando durante poco más de un ciclo planetario, hasta que unidades de búsqueda de las fuerzas asentada en el planeta, llegaron a rescatarnos.»

—Esa es la declaración del Capitán Petersen, Almirantes —dijo el Alférez Benjamín Chung, encargado de la presentación de las pruebas del caso ante el consejo del ejército, que se encontraba estudiando el caso.

«—Pero señor, la IA detecta veintiséis sobrevivientes en el sector de habitaciones —respondió con voz temblorosa el Alférez.»

«—Ese sector ya está perdido Marcano, no podemos hacer nada—se escuchó decir a una aterrada tercera voz en la grabación.»

«—Sí, no podemos hacer nada debemos irnos —dijo un cuarto tripulante, también con voz temblorosa»

—En definitiva, sólo se les puede amonestar por mentir en una declaración ante el consejo, el procedimiento fue el correcto, los peritos indicaron que el compartimento de habitaciones estaba incomunicado, no había manera de que sus ocupantes pudieran salir de él sin el sistema de maniobras operativo… —. Rosental dejó salir un suspiro, pulso algunas letras en la pantalla de su interfaz y luego se incorporó —. Eso será todo entonces, se les aplicará una pena menor por desacato y se les dará una baja deshonrosa. No podemos hacer nada más, aunque no nos guste y pensemos lo que creo que todos pensamos, el procedimiento fue el correcto.
