Oh, yeah, why was I into Japanese stuff (you asked in the podcast)?
Not very sure! The Japanese language seemed cool. And anime... not sure if the cartoon girls had something to do with that, lol >P< (Reminds me, my Malay colleague / manager says anime girls are all about big boobs haha)
