Macro Photography for a contest that is now closed because I'm a slow @c0ff33a ☕️

Last weekend I checked the Witness @derangedvisions blog to see the latest Photography contest, which turned out to be Macro something I have never managed before. I only have my trust iPhone for taking pictures, but did pick up a set of the Olixar clip on lenses that included Macro, Fish Eye and Wide Angle Lenses. The trouble is I never got the Macro lens to work, it always came out blurred - the other two were fine one of which you have to screw on top of the Macro - but Macro a complete mystery.

Sunday I was watching my boy play out, and decided to mess around with the Macro lens to see if I could get some photos with it, leaning over towards some flowers in the grass - I over balanced and pretty much shoved the iPhone camera into the flower - surprise surprise the image focused! My mistake had been thinking a Macro lens would work like the normal camera and take pictures from distance but Macro - turns out you have to be nearly touching the subject for it to focus.

Armed with this new found intelligence I set forth to take Macro photos of things

IMG_3846.JPG

Not particularly good photos of things, it was a bit breezy and I was still getting used to the concept of touching flowers with the lens.

That is a Dandelion seed, one of those fluffy seeds you could blow on and make them fly far and wide.

IMG_3855.JPG

I'm trying to be positive with these and think of them as artistic.

IMG_3862.JPG

This is pretty good, it could be an alien creature ball with exploding tentacles.

IMG_3871.JPG

That is a worm @saffisara, just in case you might get confused 😉

IMG_3873.JPG

Moss growing on a tree, I moved onto the tree because it wasn't moving!

IMG_3874.JPG

A close up of the bark, this is actually half decent...for me anyway.

IMG_3876.JPG

More moss on the bark.

IMG_3879.JPG

This kind of worked in a fashion.

IMG_3883.JPG

And a fly on my bacon, he's a colourful little fella.

After taking these on Sunday, I got busy with work, and commenting on comments on my posts, and reading through all the amazing posts left using the #SublimeSunday tag - so many to enjoy in fact it took until today Thursday to read them all. In particular @bluemoon took me on an amazing journey in a Full day of beauty which is packed full of wonderful photographs that take you on an amazing journey.

But now I finally have time to post, the Macro Photography competition is closed. I'm never discouraged though, I took them and you are getting them in this post like it or not! More importantly @derangedvisions has this new contest running Where you can win 40 Steem for sharing your best Family Photography - now that's a contest to enter, if you have not already put your entry in now is the time!

Haha - so glad you explained what that worm was!!

My favourites are the dandelion seed (so delicate- like a piece of etherial modern art) and the fly (those colours- looks like a gemstone!)

I'm now keen to see if they make a similar lense for Android- will have to check it out.

Have a wonderful weekend,
E x

Thank you very much, yes the worm was quite a find given all the hot weather we have been having. The fly did work out quite well. I think those clip on lenses will work on any mobile as they literally just clip over the mobile camera.

Brilliant- thanks C0ff33a - I might just have to have a play with one once payday arrives :)

I bought too a mí ni macro lense for mybphone, they are so fun. Also emcourage to see things closer. Looks like you had fun with all the tiny details. I use to be slow and miss contests too lol just when I am ready looool

Thank you, it certainly made mundane things in the garden look a bit different. I might need to practice using them a bit more though!

I found best to use a small phone tripod, got one on ebay for two dollars, macro is very sensible to blur if moving.

That makes perfect sense, even tiny movements will be exaggerated with the Macro close up. I will obtain a little tripod for future attempts - thank you :-)

They are very inexpensive too on ebay, some are flexible so you can hang them wherever

You are a slow, but a dear, too, my friend! Great shots, and wonderful post! Keep one an steem on!

Thank you very much, I am pleased you liked my photos - a bit different!

Yes, I did! Loved the shallow depth of field and the sharpness in the details. The result was great, especially on the last ones! Keep up the good work, my friend!

You were able to get some pretty amazing photo's! I may have to get my camera close the next time I am out to see if it will focus like that.

Thank you very much, I had fun finding new patterns in things.

That is really epic to checkout beautiful and some unique shots

Thank you very much I am pleased you enjoyed it.

I never understood the concept of macro photography until I read this post and saw your photographs. It is wonderful. The tiny details remind me of the Ant man movie

Thank you very much, I am pleased you enjoyed these very up close photographs.

Looks like you had just as much fun taking those pictures as I had looking at them 😉
Amazing pictures my friend and it's amazing how differently things can look up close.
Soo... Thank you for clearefy the worm for me, might not have known otherwise 😜 your nuts ny friend... But your Awsome!
Happy Friday and much love to you 🤗❤️🤗

Thank you very much, I had fun using the close up lens once I worked out you had to put the close up lens...close to things! I'm pleased you were able to recognise the worm, who knows what you might have thought it was 😜

I hope you are having a wonderful day today as well 🤗

Loved this post and Love your attitude towards taking macro shots @c0ffa33a and sending this post in …...late or not! It's always a good idea to add a bit of an explanation to images that could otherwise take us completely off course, so thank for that. (lol) Can't wait to your next amazing macro shots.

Thank you very much, I am pleased you enjoyed my succinct explanation of the photographs! Now I know how to use the lens I will be making better use of it.

I hope you have a lot of fun with your new lens and are well rewarded with your efforts @c0ffa33a

I love this format of your post and everything you explain in the end, I would love to try a bit of your coffee, good not to deviate from the theme that attracted me to this post are the macro photos and I loved thanks for teaching me to take them. Just saw that you were taking with an iphone I ran to see my iphone 5s to see if I had the option and did not get it, so to take macro photos I will use my digital camera, is not what I actually do but I do it because you have motivated me with your pictures.

The one I liked the most is the fly, I still wonder how did you put the camera close and not fly the fly? Amazing I loved the colors! I will practice my macro photos and if there is again a challenge of these photos let me know plis to participate, it'll be fun!

Thank you very much, I am pleased you enjoyed these photographs. I used the stock camera app on the iPhone - the difference is I purchased some lenses that clip over the iPhone camera to make it zoom closer - these ones https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B071WK4RZP/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The fly was munching on my bacon on a plate outside, there were three flies and two did fly away - but one was enjoying my bacon so much he did not budge no matter how close I stuck that lens to him! I got quite a few photos of him - that was the best.

Thanks for calling by ;-)
