Steemit Poets United : Daily Dose Of Poetry and Prose #31 (The Warped Issue: Vol. 2)

Hey Dearies, missed me yet? Sorry I have been away from your lovely gazes for a bit. I have been about so many things. Thank you @angelveselinov for this opportunity to once again read beautiful poetry and comment on them.

Due to time factor and the fact that those willing to involve in the community are few, we have had a backlog of poems intended for the Daily Dose. We have therefore decided to do a special edition with which we will bridge the gap and get back on top of the great posts that keep on pouring in into our small community.

As a result, this post will be a bit lengthy but you will definitely get your dose. Besides with poetry, an overdose is never a bad thing, right?

FYI... It is not enough that you have your post in the community poetry post promotion channel, if you want your poem to appear on the Daily Dose editions, it has to have among the five tags in your post, the tag #poetsunited. Only then will your poetry appear on this blog. So if you don't see your piece here, you know why.

We start the Daily Dose with this poem by @nationall titled Love Is The Death Of Duty

Love is like a drug. At first you feel a sense of joy

Total surrender. The next day, ask for more

In this prose poem, the poet speaks of how love is addictive and how we gradually become addicted until seventh can't do without the person we love. Valentine bells still tingling I think wink

And into the night

I dance with him

This poem Dancing With Myles by @miraeff, speaks to me of a reluctant lover, of someone who cannot help but be with someone she possibly fears. she has no choice but to be with him and the relationship is in his terms. She is but a silent partner. So many of us especially ladies are in such constricting, suffocating relationships, so you will definitely relate with this. do have a read.

Our third piece today is by @angelveselinov. He titles it Take Me To Infinity.

The poem speaks of need, of anger at the inability to connect, of the lack of communication despite the desperate need to communicate. Though abstract in content, it is a brief piece that says so many things.

Our fourth piece today comes from @udezee. He comes with this politically charged piece. He questions the political class, the government of the people and the corruption that sickens the system. The mood in the piece is anger as well as frustration. If you want to be excited into carrying a placard this Sunday morning, do read this Vain Politics, Bleeding Citizens Of Democracy

Once again, @poetrybyjeremy has wowed me with his verses;

Shroud settles, fades;

a flat earth

marked by horizons,

The piece aptly titled Rhythm Of Self reverberates with loneliness, with despair with sadness. You feel like you are alone in a world that has forgotten about you. you know that feeling?

This is the kind of poem I read with a bottle of wine, at night when the moon is high, and weep to the rhythms. I am rambling, please go read it. good work by @poetrybyjeremy

There is no corner left in my memory

@nationall gives us another sad song in his piece Sadness And Castles. Do enjoy it.

Here is a lovely piece from the beautiful @lymepoet. The piece Spider Queen is filled with imagery that gives you a vivid picture of what she is saying. Redemption! Redemption!! She screams. Breaking free from all forms of chains is the major theme of this beautiful piece.

The poem makes great use of end rhymes which keeps the rhythm and flow of the poem.

We find other great themes here in the poem and every woman who have been oppressed, counted out, intimidated, degraded etc can take this poem home with her and eat it.

@angelveselinov comes with the relaxed and playful verse. One More Time speaks about the fun of writing and it is relaxed like a ditty. You will definitely enjoy this.

Familiarity

And belonging

Are two very different things.

@bennettitalia comes with this piece that tries to show the difference between belonging in a place and being familiar with a place. Do you think they are different? Check it out Welcome

When a storyteller writes poetry, Sting Of War is what you get. @akinboyewa does a fantastic job of telling this tale. He also paints grand pictures.

I especially loved the last three lines;

And if you found this note in one piece

Then its true

The pen is mightier than the sword.

That was a good way to end a bloody poem. Do read it.

@pleaseignore drops this piece in which the poet persona is a scarecrow mourning the absence of his crow love and the coming of winter. It is a beautiful read. check it out Scarecrow Blues

We wrap up this issue with @lorddominik007 piece on dying and living as if dead.

You don't see a reason to live ? Me neither.
But I'm not gonna spend my life dead.

This piece shares the encouragement to stay active, to live, to do and be stagnant. beautiful and sweet. Do well to check it out Don't Want To Live
