Fiber Ramble - June 28

Hi all! I hope this post finds everyone well and happy.

The count down has begun until I meet my new granddaughter and I'm getting much closer to completing her blanket and outfit. Honestly though I should have it done by now but Steem seems to take up a lot of my time. Is anyone else experiencing this "phenomenon"? LOL!

I found out a nice little tidbit of information at knit group this week. I don't know if Mary Maxim is available in the U.S. but here in Canada the first Tuesday of every month, if you are over 50, you get 20% off of EVERYTHING! YAY! Aging has a few perks. LOL!

How to Grow a Blog/Ulog ~ Ulog: Day 28

In true @snook style she shares with us some hard earned Perls of wisdom about what it takes to grow your blog. I love her use of gardening as an analogy. Take some time and watch her video, it's only 3.35 minutes long. I've never seen such a creative way to illustrate how to succeed on Steem. Awesome job @snook!

A week in knitting | Shortbread Inspirations

@shanibeer took me down a rabbit hole with this post. She has made me look at the use of color in my needlework in a whole new way. She saw an amazing piece of art, "Shortbread", that was itself the product of a challenge to rework @shortcut's art and using tubes of paint she'd almost forgotten she had, created her own fantastic version of "Shortbread"! Follow along and be amazed by her process. Thank you @shanibeer! If you're not familiar with #creativecommons art I suggest you explore the tag and be inspired.

Learning to Carve

I love it when artists show their mistakes because we get to learn with them. @shelahdowart shares her first attempt at learning to carve using an avocado pit. She explains that she has sculpted but not carved. The difference when you sculpt is that you build up and when you carve you take it away which is not as forgiving. I admire @shelahdowart's persistence in achieving her vision. Well done @shelahdowart!

Making a Star Trek insignia patch for lounge / pyjama top...

My husband and I are Trekies so when @cryptocariad posted how she made her own StarFleet badge I was excited. @cryptocariad, a talented Fiber Artist who's posts I always enjoy, created this cool badge for a pajama top she designed using recycled materials. She rarely misses a detail and her creations are excellent. Very cool @cryptocariad!

@saharkhanommi shows us how to create beautiful jewelry from recycled materials. Her tutorial is organized and detailed. You could easily use other objects to create one of these beauties of your own. Great job @saharkhanommi!

The Nequan: "A lesson in love." (re-write/draw reality with @artwatch)

@artwatch blew me away with this post. She used an old book of wild flowers and created a fantastic illustration of The Nequan. The Nequan are an interesting people created by @artwatch. You are very talented!

Hobby On The Road - Finished Main Rose

@vliet has obviously spent many hours creating this Irish Crochet rose which will be the main feature of the dress she is working on. Her process photos are just beautiful and detailed. Amazing job @vliet.
