Friday Favorites #4: Some of the Awesome Posts I Read This Week!
It's that time again. I take notes and save links throughout the week of the things I read that really stick with me and post about them on Fridays. If the link I've posted is really too old to vote on, please consider visiting some of the author's other works and see if anything resonates with you.
I've been struggling with a lot of my own internal stuff this week, and I think that some of my picks reflect that. I guess I just related to or maybe was drawn to things that made me feel less alone. Here's hoping you can find some new blogs to follow yourself!
Thanks for reading.
@jealousyjane
This looks like it will be a great series. This writer is so open and honest with her writing, I really look forward to seeing what she has to say about being an empath. It’s something that I’ve somewhat recently come to realize about myself (my husband has always told me that I’m very empathetic, but I think it took me a longer time to realize that the description of “empath” was so fitting.
@jaynie
Then, I happened to also stumble upon this post about having a child who is an empath (and I need to remember to send this link to my daughter as well!)
@geekorner
Poetry isn’t often my ‘thing’ but this week I found a couple that really stood out. This is one, on depression, just really hit me. I’ve been struggling with depression a lot lately. I’m tired of winter more than anything, this season doesn’t help. At any rate, this poem was shared on the Isle of Write discord and the comments in the chat caught my eye because they were discussing how the “Rules” shouldn’t overtake your writing and creativity. Of course I had to go read it and I am so glad I did. I encourage you to give it a read. It really resonated with me.

@raj808
a short five minute freewrite poem that captures so much feeling and… movement. Loved it!
And then AGAIN, I didn't even realize at first that I had chosen poems by the same person. These are really awesome.
@beemillz
Super intense and amazingly raw freewrite by a writer who really knows how to get their feelings on the page.
@cizzo
This freewrite really captured the reality that so many of us face (or at least I do!) It really made me think of how often I hesitate and end up choosing to not interact with other people (especially in real life, but even online as well) because of some sort of self inflicted dialogue in my head. It made me want to try and give it a bit of a go next time I have the impulse to approach someone and maybe just having read this will stick in my mind and help me take the step of even simply saying, “Hi, how are you?”
And my son's freewrite from this week, which not surprisingly (to me, anyway) has a rather intense Sci-Fi theme going on with the prompt "Fumigate":

Our middle daughter, Paris, finally got her account verified and has started posting her artwork!
@abyni
Abyni is posting a new song video every day for a week AND she got her first curie vote! AND she was mentioned on a post by @lk666 on The Horns Up Saloon! today as well!!!
So nice to get a mention like this @byn and knowing that my creative work has resonated in someones mind. Both of those poems, but especially the second, were about struggles pertaining to long term mental health issues I battle every day. I am far too stubborn to allow the mental chatter to drown out my soaring spirit though. steemit and the people I have met on here have been a powerful force for me reigniting my creativity which has been a catalyst for positivity in my life.
I'm getting all soppy here but... well, it's true 😉
Thanks for the shout out
Well @raj808 I don't know if you read my post on dealing with any of my own mental health struggles, but I suppose that's why your poetry resonated so well with me this week. It was just what I needed, so thank you so much for sharing!
I miss so much on steemit but I have read it now. Honestly, I wish I could share my inner workings so succinctly as you and let it all out. I suppose I do that in poetry sometimes but well... I understood what you were talking about in your post @byn and have left a comment sharing my main coping mechanism. Just in case it is something that resonates and can blossom into a cathartic practice. If not that's fine also, we all have such different ways of finding that elusive stillness, it is just nice to share :-)
Thank you! I appreciate you for sharing. We all have our talents. I can write out a lot of thoughts and feelings, but you do amazing things through poetry. I'm really glad we managed to 'meet' on here!
Thank you for including my freewrite @byn!
I love the fact you took something practical from it :)
Thank you! Your freewrite stuck with me so much. I actually had forgotten to copy the link (and my memory is CRAP) but I remembered enough to go hunt it down, because it was really great.
Thank you so much for the mention hon!!! Such a wonderful thing you are doing for the community too! xxx
Thank you! :) I appreciate all of your support, you are such an inspiration to me.
What a cool way to share content.
Thank you! I like putting it together and hopefully helping people find content they might not otherwise see. :)
