Hook 'Em Up! : [#018]

What is Hook 'Em Up?

Our @BuddyUP community is growing and so is the quality content inside the POST POOL channels. Often, that content can be easily missed in the vast ocean of Steemit.
It’s our mission at BuddyUP to grow together, support each other and highlight the fantastic content that is created by our members. As part of that mission, we showcase talented content creators within the BuddyUP community, who also display a positive attitude and a community mindset, through our weekly curation post, Hook ‘Em Up!
This week we'd like to shine the light on the growing @steemmonsters project taking Steemit by storm. We at @buddyup recognize a good project when we see it and we've given our members the opportunity to get their feet wet by hosting a Steemmonsters Writing Contest. With three chances to win, and a Gold Foil Card with each, the odds are in your favor to win some shiny new cards and join the party before the tournaments begin. The following three Steemians have just joined our server and posted their entries. Buddies, let's show these newbie members some love and welcome them to our family.
THIS WEEK’S CATCH
@ironshield

When reading @ironshield's entry, you're sure to get a chuckle at the interview he has with himself about his thoughts on the @steemmonsters project. In his provocative Q&A you will not only get his opinion but will also get some good information about Steemmonsters.
So I keep hearing about this Steem Monsters thing. What's that all about?
It's a virtual card game where people collect cards (which are unique and owned like a coin) and battle them to win rewards.
Not having played card games before, @ironshield is looking at the cards as more of an investment. He explains how the value of the cards can go up with more users/activity and also he tells us a little about the recently launched Monster Market. You can now buy, sell, and trade cards easily on the Steemmonster's website.

Closing out a well rounded interview with himself, @ironshield gives us his positive thoughts on the artwork and how he thinks we may eventually see animated cards. He also reminds us about community and how Steemians are getting involved with creating story lines, artwork and music; a game created by Steemians for Steemians. It's an exciting time to get involved ... are you ready?
If you already have a steemit account, it's only $5.00 to get the starter pack (15 common cards) and $2.00 for booster packs (5 random cards). There is a small chance you will get gold-foil cards or epic or legendary cards.
Stop by @ironshield's Steemmonsters Contest Entry, say hello, and welcome him to our family. Don't interrupt him if he's talking to himself though, that would be rude.
@tsnaks

In @tsnaks contest entry, he feels a bit nostalgic telling us how @steemmonsters reminds him of another game he played. He was a trader in it, always on a lookout for good deals. He recalls opening his first Legendary card and when his trading instincts kicked in, he immediately started looking for a good deal.
I was a trader, and I loved to go out of my ways to find and meet people who would give me good deals for my items.
Community, so far, is a common theme as @tsnaks shares his love and pride for the Steemmonsters community. He is pleasantly surprised that 100% of the trades he's conducted have been honest and scam-free, which wasn't the case in previous games he's played. All Steemians should be proud to have a project like this bringing trustworthy and genuine people together.

Speaking of playing a popular card game as a child, @tsnaks shares with us how they played the game while not knowing how to play the game. I'm sure we can all relate to that. He also shares with us that he thinks Steemmonsters may turn out to be a good investment, especially once the battling starts ... are you getting excited yet?
When the battling starts I think the card prices will moon really high.
Check out @tsnaks Steemmonsters Contest Entry, and while you're there, welcome him to the family and share your enthusiasm for the @steemmonsters in his comment section.
@stever82

Last, but certainly not least, is our entry from @stever82 who's been an avid card player for a while, already well-honed in experience for playing in card tournaments. We need to keep our eyes on him... Somewhat reluctant in the beginning, all it took for him to get hooked was winning his first card. After a little digging, he found out that there are some pretty outstanding people behind this project and his doubts were eased.
Talked to some members and paid much more attention to who is behind the game, @Yabapmatt and @aggroed. I started to feel better right away that the game would be something special.
Noting the community in his entry, @stever82 describes his interactions in the server and beyond; I believe it's safe to say that the @steemmonsters community is made up of some pretty awesome Steemians. He even received an Epic card from a generous unnamed Steemian.

Still not clear about some of the details of the game, @stever82 is just like the rest of us; excited yet patiently waiting for the tournaments to arrive and see where this will lead. Between the fun, the investment, the artwork and the many payment options, there's really nothing to lose. The community alone is enough to make you realize the potential in the @steemmonsters project ... you're ready to take the plunge now, aren't you?
I might have just found another good discord to spend some time in. This is what is going to be giving this game a shot for sure. A good supportive group of people on discord is key to having new players join the game.
Head over to @stever82's Steemmonsters Contest Entry, take some time to leave some of your thoughts on Steemmonsters, and welcome him to our BuddyUP family.

Good stuff hey!
Thank you for interrupting my conversation! I appreciate featuring my post. @ironshield
I should mention an error in my post: it's $10 to get a starter pack, but you can also get a free steemit account with it too. @ironshield
