Who've we caught this week?

What is Hook 'Em Up?

Our @BuddyUP community is growing and so is the quality content inside the POST POOL channels. Often, that content can be easily missed in the vast ocean of Steemit.

It’s our mission at BuddyUP to grow together, support each other and highlight the fantastic content that is created by our members. As part of that mission, we showcase talented content creators within the BuddyUP community, who also display a positive attitude and a community mindset, through our weekly curation post, Hook ‘Em Up!

THIS WEEK’S CATCH

@mandelsage

There are so many awesome Steemians that are floating around the platform showing love and making Steem a better place. Our newest member @mandelsage is within that crowd as he presents a brand new initiative that himself and @poeticsnake has created, the Golden Apple Award The award will be given to Steemians who demonstrate amazing standards here on the platform and show that they want to make Steemit a better place through their efforts.

If you haven't been living under a rock then you are aware of the adult coloring book craze. In @madelsage's latest post, he reveals his black and white fractal mandalas that he intends to compile in a book to sell on Amazon. How exciting is that? We are thrilled that he has decided to share this wonderful secret that he's been keeping from us.

I'm really, really excited about this! =) It has been hard to hold it all back from you guys.

Showing off his artsy talents @mandelsage shares with us several examples of his beautiful and unique fractal black and white mandalas. I'm sure they're going to be a crowd pleaser for us adults who like to relax and enjoy coloring like we did when we were children. Coloring books sure have changed since then, now you can color outstanding works of art.

I've done over 30 of them and I'm still deciding how many I'll have in the first book (yep, I want to do a second one! There is SO much variety in the formulae combinations!)

He has a couple of questions and would like your opinion, so grab your crayons, check out @mandelsage's stunning mandalas, and let's wish him a big congratulations on his brand new exciting ventures.

@alexdory

Our music-loving, knowledge seeking buddy @alexdory has been away for a month and it's no surprise that we've missed his always educational and scientific posts. He is back now and we're excited to see what he has in store for us. Not to mention what he'll teach us next!

In @alexdory's latest post he shares with us an easy to read explanation about rocket science. Breaking up the science into small easy to digest pieces, he makes it simple for us non-scentists to understand. He starts by explaining how a basic rocket engine works and shows us a few examples.

This physical process of creating and directing thrust is using Newton's Third Law, which I have explained in a previous article in my space series.

Since the invention of the rocket engine, scientists have done nothing to improve the designs of the rocket which @alexdory tells us is extremely flawed. He explains why this is and offers up graphics explaining the most efficient way to propel a rocket. In order to travel the distance needed to get to Mars these rockets have to be done right, inefficiency is not an option. He also shares with us, in great detail, an alternative to these ancient technologies; the Aerospike engine.

While it is hardly a new engine per se, this type of engine is revolving around an inverted cone or bell, designed to prevent structural loss in case of over-expansion and to allow for the atmospheric pressure to press the gasses to the walls of the inside cone.

Boost on over to @alexdory's rocket science post and allow him to teach you a little bit about these cool rockets and the science behind them. Don't forget to say hello and give him a warm welcome back to the platform before you leave.

@kchitrah

Our very genuine, loving, and intelligent yoga teacher (who seems to be good at hypnotizing her yoga students) has made her return from a brief ten-day hiatus. We are glad to have her back as her posts are always fantastic and intriguing. Her latest one is no exception.

In Breath and Thinketh Not, kchitrah gives us a lesson in psychology and explains how our thoughts, while powerful, are not real. She shares with us her personal experience in realizing this through a mindful exercise and explains her struggles to recognize this daily. She tells us how it has wreaked havoc not only in her mind but also how it has had an impact on those around her.

When I first realised the truth - it was through a very interesting exercise. Questioning what we see. In a state of non-judgement, the questioning created ripples in the very fabric of reality - like something seriously out of a Wrinkle in Time.

Getting to the technical side of this subject, @kchitrah gives us a look into quantum physics and includes an experiment that shows the behavior of particles. She explains how a simple act of observing a quantum system can have a profound effect in those particles' behavior. @kchitrah then talks about the ancient yogic practice of Pranayama which allows you to master your mind through breathing. Something that can take your mind from an anxious state to a calm state.

The awareness is at a tremendous heightened state - that our needs diminish to the bare minimum, and providing us with the knowing of what comes next without too much forethought or planning - i.e. FLOWING.

Breathe, quiet your mind, and hop on over to @kchitrah's thought-provoking post where you can show our buddy some love. Maybe learning one of her breathing exercises will help you see things a little more clearly.
