Contests, Giveaways and Raffles!
There’s a great variety of contests this weekend. Photography, art (talking about it not making it), a couple of guess what it is types, and the usual comment, resteem, upvote types. I guess your weekend plans are here!
Remember if you want your contest listed, the best way to get noticed is to post it in the contest channel in the SBI Discord server.
Please try to think about your submissions and reward these great hosts with quality submissions. If you enjoy somebody’s contest format, check their feed for more, and follow them so you don’t have to wait for our listing to come out!
If you want to see more contests before we mention them, check the #steembasicincome tag in Trending or New and see what's happening! We also have a contests channel in our Discord server.
Each contest may have its own rules, so please read the contest post thoroughly before entering.
Today’s featured contests
We have an ever growing list of recurring contests after the numbered list below. One of our members suggested we have a special section featuring some of the recurring contests each time. We agreed and here it is!
Pirate Sunday
Come help tell the adventures of Captain K, a fictional character with a quite a history! To enter, read the current post and previous stories, then write your own version of what “piratey” things he gets up to next.
What is it?
Inspired by a game she played with the kids at her niece's birthday one year, this game is straightforward. She posts an image, and you guess what it is. The rules are simple enough, guess right and win an SBI share.

Quite a few industrious Steemians run contests regularly. Here is a list of the ones we know about at the moment. All of these have been running for months so you can count on their posted schedule.
Be sure to check each account and look for the contest name as the links change each week. Also remember to read the full contest description as the rules and prize values sometimes change.
@freewritehouse
The folks over at @freewritehouse run three contests each week. All of them are designed to encourage community engagement and highlight other's work. Besides the prizes from the @freewritehouse account, they are always interested in hearing from anyone who will sponsor a contest and so they can offer even bigger prizes.
A Favorite Freewrite You Read contest runs every Tuesday for just 24 hours. You need to read some freewrites written (you can read this post to see what they are), and then comment on the contest posts about which ones you liked best and why. If they choose your comment you win shares of SBI.
Recommend your Favorite Freewrite Poem is a poetry version of the Favorite Freewrite contest and it runs every Friday. Make a comment about a freewrite poem you loved and you could win SBI shares. But be quick! When Friday is over, so is the contest - until the next week that is.
We-Write is a new challenge where two writers create a single story using the freewrite prompt. It runs every other Wednesday with a prize of 4 SBI divided among winners.
Paying it Forward
In the spirit of helping new Steemians, this contest focuses on curating great content and is run by @pifc. It runs weekly on Mondays and asks that you find two "High Quality Original Content Blog Posts" to recommend for curation. Four judges decide which recommendations were the best and multiple winners get SBI shares. Follow @pifc to see the latest contest post and read it for full details.
ZapFic Writing Contest
Like super short stories? Try writing one in 232 characters or fewer for your chance to win SBI in this contest run by @felt.buzz. Every Wednesday he posts a new prompt to use for your very short story. You can post your story wherever you want, just make sure to keep it under 232 characters.
Finish the Story Contest
This weekly contest is run by @f3nix. He recently launched the @bananafish account which now hosts the contest which runs every Wednesday. He posts the beginning of a story, and you finish it. Then you post your complete story for everyone to read. One of the prizes is SBI shares. The important thing to know about this contest is that it's an ongoing creativity workshop, so if you miss one deadline you can participate in the next.
Steemit World Map Challenge
Travel the world with your fellow Steemians in the #swmchallenge run by @runicar. You simply need to share a blog about a place you visited and share it on the map (read the post to see how). You’ll need pictures and good descriptions if you want to get noticed and win the SBI shares.
Caption Contest
Help celebrate digital art by creating creative captions for the week’s selected picture. Read all the rules carefully to be sure your entry qualifies for the SBI prizes.
Punday Monday
From the creator:
What is Punday?
Punday is the best day. It's the day we post a topic upon which you are invited to pun in the comments for a chance at SBI shares. You get to read all the incredible puns, and you can try your hand at puns, and you can just bask in the warmth and love that punsters offer. I am your Puntender, and I serve hot puncakes with Mapun Syrpun.
Thank you economy
Every week you can visit the Thank You Economy contest and tag someone who has helped you. When you do, both of you could win SBI shares from the ever growing prize pool!
What does today mean to you?
Here’s the description from the contest creator:
This is a weekly contests to giveaway SBI shares to the winner(s) - the best "one out of six" from "qualified #ccc entries"
The theme of your post-entry is to -
- present a personal story,
- illustrated with at least one relevant photograph taken by you, the contestant,
- about the day or the days surrounding it.
It is set to be a weekly contest on Wednesdays, although, on some special occasions, it will be pre-announced due to a special day such as a holiday.
So, far, this contest has inspired some wonderful memories in these entries.
72 Hour Raffle
@elleok runs this raffle that lasts 72 hours from the time of posting. Always check his account to make sure you find the latest post.
Entering is easy. Just make a comment for one entry in the random draw. Upvoting and resteeming gets you two more entries. One winner is guaranteed an SBI share, and if many people enter there could be more! So spread the word.
SBI & GRC Contest
Love free stuff + crypto + science? This contest is for you! Simply resteem this post, upvote, comment and follow me to enroll. And get a chance to win 1 SBI Share and 50 GRC (Gridcoin).
Steemexplorer’s Daily
@steemexplorers is an account aimed at achieving growth through helping others find resources and network with other community members in an effort to improve user experiences and overall knowledge of the Steem platform. The @steemexplorers daily contests as of now require either an upvote on the daily post OR a comment to be submitted in which the applicant provides something that they have learned about the Steem platform or services on the Steem Blockchain that they find useful and can be beneficial to others.
A winner is selected at random from each daily contest and a share awarded to the respective winner with a results post showing the wallet transaction from @steemexplorers to @steembasicincome sponsoring the winner which can then be verified by anyone who's interested in confirming our giveaways.
The comments that people can leave to gain entry can be anything useful, as little as teaching something helpful with markdown format, their thoughts on certain upvote services or apps like partiko for example, things like @dustsweeper or whatever else they can think of that helps
NOTE: Contest images used with permission from their owners.
How to get on the recurring contest list
Do you run a regular contest that you’d like to see in our recurring contest section? We have some simple criteria you need to have to be included:
- SBI shares must be part of the prizes given out.
- Contest needs to be running 5 weeks or 10 contests on a consistent schedule, whichever comes first.
If you think your contest qualifies let us know in the comments or on our Discord channel and we’ll check it out.
Instead of trying to be thoroughly comprehensive (and then end up not publishing) like we have before, we have only included the most recent contests (skipping duplicates). If we missed yours, feel free to share it in the comments for our readers to find, and to stop by our Discord server to post it in the contests channel.
Enrollment
If you want to get involved, or to increase the share of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:
Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 share in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member.
If you're unclear, please check out our full transaction memo guidelines and then let us know if you have any questions.
https://steemit.com/busy/@steembasicincome/steem-basic-income-updated-transaction-memo-guidelines
The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. We are not currently accept SBD for enrollments. Please allow up to 7 days for your enrollment to be processed.
Writer Bio
This Contest listing was prepared for us by @ntowl!

SBI Writer's Group Needs Your Help
A few spots are available for interested writers to join the SBI writer's group.
You do not already have to be a member of Steem Basic Income to take up this opportunity, but a basic working knowledge of SBI would help.
Here are some examples of previous interviews created by members of the SBI writers group. As you can see from these examples, we let this lapse for a while, but we are ready to take it to the next level!
Interview with @dynamicgreentk
Participating writers receive payment in SBI units, along with a writing credit on articles and updates published on @steembasicincome account, to 5k+ followers. Bonuses in STEEM/SBD are available for quality work that requires minimal editing.
Full information about the program is available here. If you are interested, please direct message me (@josephsavage) on the Steem Basic Income discord server.

Hi @josephsavage and @ntowl! How are you guys, it's a bit of time..
Thanks always for what you do.
Can you please add to the @bananafish recurring contests the Mizu no Oto? We're at the 8th edition with an all SBI pot. The contest is curated by @marcoriccardi, a real haijin (haiku poet) and it's a great occasion to learn this form of poetry.
Hey potassium god. I’ll get it in the Monday edition. Thanks for including the image. ;)

@retinox @peekbit, are you still interested in getting into the recurring section? I need an image and description for each contest.
Oh yes - I'd like @ntowl... So maybe @retinox should write the description and I add my part for the repository then... The images can be downloaded then from our postings here on steem.
@retinox - what do you think?
Sure @peekbit - I can provide a description and provide it for @ntowl. Or you do both - I'd rely on your writing ;) The pictures will be the same we use right now.
ok - I'll do it 😊
@peekbit @retinox just tag me when you get the description written or send it to me on Discord #ntowl9845
ok :)
Hello @ntowl
I can't contact you on Discord 😔 They want my email. I gave one to them. Then they want my phone number... I'm out. Really, no Discord with me.
I can send you the description here as a reply. Maybe you like to tell me what size the picture should have - so I can adjust them for you.
Can understand you... I used it once - and it was awful too. Somehow I managed it to register as a guest or so, I don't remember. It's a really obtrusive site 👎🏼
hi @peekbit. You can use Discord without all that but i understand if you don't want to bother (here's a link to tell you how if you change your mind: https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/219470277-Getting-Started)
You can just put the description in a comment if you want. or a link to a shared document somewhere (whatever you use dropbox, google, something else).
For pictures, size doesn't matter too much. It just needs to be a decent resolution. I think the images we use now display at roughly 320 pixels wide. So I can just use the pictures you use for the contest posts or you can also put them in the comments for me. actually that would be easier so I can just take care of it all in one place and can be sure I have the right ones.
Hallo @ntowl
You can copy/paste the text... look at my other reply down here. It's the markup source you find written in typewriter-font. Pictures are included too.
