Freewrite Day 583 Rate

I started writing Minnow Tips posts almost as soon as I got to STEEM in June 2017. I was publishing them to help others, and still do, but I also use them to help myself. As all of us know who post here, this place is very complex. As I figured things out for various aspects of our strange world, I posted them so I would have them for myself too.

Sometime in the fall, a big STEEM guy came to one of my posts and commented. I think he had about 100K sp. He told me he liked what I was doing and had put my on his list. He was manually curating a lot of people and would give me some good votes sometimes. He told me not to worry about voting his posts or even reading them. He liked my minnow tips and this was why he was supporting me, so that I could keep doing them. This was huge surprise and thrill when I had about 300 sp.

All throughout the “good” times, until about March 2018, I would get his big vote on my posts every so often. He usually voted on the 5th day for the lowest payout post I had at the time. This was so encouraging! And it was helpful, as his vote was quite large.

A few months later, I realized I had not gotten a vote from him lately. I went to his blog to see he had stopped posting, and was powering down 100%. His account died and has not come back.

So this had nothing to do with me. Somehow he got ticked off or just decided on a new direction in life. I did not look too hard, but what I did look at gave no indication of why he was leaving.

This is why I work so hard to increase my stake in things like @steembasicincome, @goldmonkey, @qurator, @feedyourminnows, @incinboost, and many more. These are programs, not people, and have a good chance of staying active as long as steem does. They are run by people, but they are somewhat separate from controversy, and they give me good votes on my posts.

I love my manual curators – and all who vote for my posts. No matter what size your vote is, or how often I get it, I am grateful every time. The auto-voting programs are another way to help my blogs survive and I am so grateful for those too.

My goal on STEEM is to increase the rate of pay per post these days. If I can average $1 payout per post, I can increase that to $1.10. Then on and on we go.

I have a lot of financial and personal goals, here and in my real life. If I do not increase the rate of pay I get blogging here, I will not succeed in meeting them.

My post is for the #freewrite daily challenge by @mariannewest. Freewrite is a great way to post on steemit when you do not think you have the time, or talent, or anything to say.
