As usual with a system like this, scoring away goals count double. It's a rare event, but tonight 2 teams from the 2nd division play each other and one of them is certain to make the finals.

KV Mechelen vs Union St Gilloise

There was some uncertainty if this match could be played because there was an issue with the field heating and the pitch was frozen because of the winter and snow here in Belgium. They did find a solution and the match for sure will be played tonight. The big headline in the paper today stated that the Promotion will have 100% priority for KV Mechelen even though they dream about the cup final. With the format of the 2nd division along with these 2 cup matches, these teams will have played each other 6 times this season. The most recent fixture 13/01/2019 ended in a 1-2 away win for Mechelen. in that match, Mechelen took the early lead after 3 minutes and Union were without their top striker Niakaté and playmaker Tau who both will play today. Union will for 100% go for the cup final. Mechelen plays a highly important match against Beerschot this weekend. If they win that, the gap will be 11 points and they will be almost certain of going back to the first division. So the main question is if Mechelen is going to be willing to fully go for it at the cost of being more tired in this weekends match. Final Line-ups and early match intentions should say a lot and that is pretty much what I will be looking out for. The odds spiked up on both the favorite and the under likely because of the bad pitch news which. I don't have any pre-game bets but will as always watch the match Live and bring a report along with the bets I'm placing on the SBC Discord.
