Irish Beer review #10 The Journeyman IPA

in #beersaturday6 years ago

Another week, another beer!! Last week, I ventured away from my favorite beer, and tried an amber ale, and it was really nice.

But this week, I have gone back to an IPA again. For me, nothing beats that rich hoppy smell and flavour, when you crack open a good IPA.

This one was enjoyed, along with his 3 brothers last Friday night, while I tucked in to watch the Masters golf unfold on the telly.

This weeks beer of the week is.....

The Journeyman IPA

Intro

I spotted this one on a recent visit to my local off license, and the label looked pretty cool, and it was an IPA, so I decided to give it a go.

I love a salty snack with my beers, so I had a few bags of rancheros with these tasty beers.

Review

This one pours a lovely darkened orange colour and the hoppy smell fills the nostrils.

This one goes down very well - smooth and tasty, grapefruit and orange stand out, with pine noticebale on the aftertaste.

The lacing was excellent, and this one formed a nice creamy head which lasted well.

All round, this one ticked lots of boxes, without knocking it out of the park.

Stats

  • Brewer: Station Works, Newry, County Down, BT35 6JP Northern Ireland
  • Alcohol Content: 5.2%
  • IBU: 46
  • Size: 500ml/50cl bottle
  • Bitterness: Medium
  • What they say: You need a great barrel to make a great beer. Journeyman is steeped in the tradition of the highly skilled craft of coopering, the process of making watertight barrels out of wooden staves. This IPA is bursting with fruity hop flavour due to generous dry hopping, balanced with malty and biscuit flavours from the malt.

Ya it was a tasty brew, cheers for stopping by

I look forward to seeing more beer reviews.

Thanks a lot..

I was never a huge fan of IPA's, I prefer malty ales and stouts, but I won't say no to a good IPA either :)

I need to start trying some different beers :o) Tried an amber ale recently, and it was nice... When It comes to stout, I love my Guinness, so it is tricky to try a craft stout and enjoy it... The Creamy head on Guinness is hard to beat!

I just had a craft stout with a better head and taste than Guinness two days ago :D Unfortunately for you can only get it on tap in brewery that makes it and that is in Zagreb, Croatia. 🍺

Ah you're just teasing me now! :o) If i make it back to Croatia some day, I will ask you the name of it.. I have been to Dubrovnik twice - you have one beautiful country brother.. Loved my 2 holidays there.. Lovely people and scenery..

Thank you, I won't be modest about my country and people here, I love them too! Don't forget to ask, if you happen to come to Zagreb, I can show you where the brewery is as well :)

Cheers man, I will for sure..
