A Sunny Day At Matheson Bay -New Zealand Travel Stories - #9

Today I want to share with you the beauty of Matherson Bay. My friend and me hitch hiked there starting in Auckland. We had no concrete plan where we wanted to go.

So we just made a sign that said "North". It was my first time hitch hiking away from home. And we were really lucky. We got picked up by a nice guy who told us that he would let us out at a nice beach and pick us up an hour later and bring us to a even nicer place where wild camping was easier.
At the first beach be met this little fellow.
Then we drovee to the second beach. A view days before we visited the place an Orca had attaced a dog at this beach. I remember that the man who gave us the ride told us the story. Now I looked it up and saw the video for the first time.

We did not see any whales that day. Actually I did not see any whales during my time in New Zealand. But it was always so close. One time when I left Wellington with the ferry to picton two hours later people told me that a lot of whales had been seen in Wellington. It is can dangerous for whales to go so close to the cost that people can spot them so I am also glad that I did not meet a whale. But I saw some beautiful birds.

There are so many different types of birds in New Zealand. If you are silent you recognize how different their languages are. While some sing beautiful songs others chat loudly.

So we chilled in the sun and listened to the birds and the waves of the sea creating a big symphony together.

I loved instantly fell in love with this beautiful tree when we arrived at the beach. So I took the time and made an ink drawing of it.

Vielen Dank :) Ich freue mich vor allem über die Bilder von den Vögeln. Ich hatte mich gar nicht mehr erinnert, dass ich die so gut aufs Bild bekommen habe. Nach 5 Jahren vergisst man so einiges :)

Die Aufnahmen von dir gefallen mir auch sehr gut, ist wirklich alles echt profimässig.
Die blonden Haare stehen dir auch 1 A.
Als Kind hatte ich auch blonde haare, aber die auf dem Bild sind schon gefärbt. Bei dem Bild mit dem Baum ist mir damals glaube ich gar nicht aufgefallen, dass ich da ein knutschendes Pärchen drauf bekommen habe. Die Kamera war eigentlich gar nicht so dolle und ist während der Reise dann auch kaputt gegangen. Schön dass manche Sachen sogar "profimäßig" aussehen. Vielen Dank <3

Yes, a lot of New Zealanders I met make their own beer at home. I drank some really nice dark beer in Takaka in a self build house. It was just amazing :)
