No kiss lets time stand still,
Poetry makes love banal,
Love makes poetry,
Does love make her banal?
But what is not banal?
Please forgive me,
A tear dries quickly,
Love withers faster.
Heart painting breaks the heart
Why does yearning pain torment?
The paths of thought completely muddled,
Uncertain ways of feeling infinite,
But everything ends in death?
No, hardly remains this
Kissed the last.

Kein Kuss lässt die Zeit still stehen,
Poesie macht die Liebe banal,
Die Liebe macht die Poesie,
Macht die Liebe sie banal?
Doch was ist nicht schon banal?
Bitte verzeih mir,
Eine Träne trocknet schnell,
Die Liebe verdorrt schneller.
Herzchen malen bricht das Herz
Warum quält sehnsuchtsvoller Schmerz?
Die Pfade des Denkens vollends verworren,
Ungewisse Wege der Gefühle unendlich,
Doch alles endet im Tod?
Nein, kaum bleibt dieser
Geküsste der Letzte.
