Bounty Hunter Report 04-05
We announced "how bounties work" about a week ago. Even though this is a very early version without a real interface more than 120 bounties have been created so far. Most of these are rather small, many less than 1 Steem. Still it may be worth your while to check out these posts and see if you can score some of the bounty rewards.

We are currently trying to update this report every other day. Given that bounties run 7 days mostly this should be a good frequency and balance between spam and giving everyone a chance to participate in each bounty.
We changed the minimum bounty size we will include in this report to 0.1 STEEM or SBD. Let us know if you think this is too low?
From now on the report shows the payout date on the left and is sorted by the amount of the bounty, so you see the big opportunities right away.
Make sure to reference your bounty
Roughly 40 or so bounties that have been completed. We still have a few that are being returned. This is rather odd, since every commenters could just upvote himself at 1% and get all the payout if no one else gets upvoted.
For bounty creators: Make sure you point out the bounty opportunity in your post or better yet your headline. That way you will get more attention and your readers know what to do to earn the rewards.
Also make sure you upvote the right commentaries!
There are about 80 active bounties at the moment. Check out the list below and maybe you can earn some of the rewards. Again some have been returned in the past so there is certainly an opportunity for bounty hunters to make some extra rewards.
Currently finding bounties is hard
Since there is no easy way to search for bounty posts, we will create these lists of bounties on a regular basis, so make sure to follow the @steem-bounty account.
Some posters use the "bounty" and "steem-bounty", so you can look for those as well. If you create a post an plan to use a bounty, make sure to add a bounty tag and ideally announce in your post or via the headline that you are providing a bounty.

Remember in order to qualify for a bounty reward you must write a comment to the bounty post, which needs to be a top level comment (direct response to the post).

Lets not encourage the spammers to much here. I have already dealt with one that is running around to tons of the bounty posts and leaving BS comments while upvoting himself.
Can you please remove self votes from the calculations? Really not fair to others who have small voting power for someone that is much larger to come in and grab a ton of the bounty anyways, plus this will at least make it a little harder for the spammers.
Yea so this is something we have been thinking about when designing this. The problem with not allowing self voting in my mind is that a "cheater" would simply create two accounts and then use that to upvote. So I did not want to do this.
I was hoping that the 80% for the creator should take care of this and most cheaters have little SP and can easily been dealt with.
I have been thinking about putting in a function where there is any amount of downvote from the creator that there is no bounty reward, so that the creator can effective police his bounty.
The idea that a downvote from the author of even 1% would nullify any bounty would help. At least then we don't need to use a large amount of voting power...but still not useful for smaller members without a sliderbar. A flag is going to wipe out 10% of their voting power for the day.
You are correct they don't tend to have much SP for the true spammers, but there are plenty that are looking for angles to game the system and using their voting power to give themselves a huge boost is simple enough.
Just to give an example. One person I follow started using bounties and I have 7 cents in upvotes, one other person has 9 cents (they got a second vote besides the author), then I think the others all have under 1 cent. I could easily drop another 21 cents on my comment right before payout and take currently 50% of the Author/Creator side and then around 72-73% of the Community side. This creates a tempting situation for many. No idea what that bounty is, but know I used 3 SBD and there are plenty of others with higher ones then this out there.
I think all self votes should be nullified to keep the playing field at least somewhat level. For sure I like the downvote idea no matter what as that would also take care of multi account spammers which there are to many of running around right now.
Would also suggest a blacklist. If you are caught cheating they are placed on the list and never get a bounty. If someone wants off the blacklist allow a review after 30 days for a 5 SBD fee which you can use for your own bounties as a nice reward to your followers. Review and make sure it looks like they have cleaned up their act.
Yes this is work, but when running something like your Bounty Program you have now put yourself in a position to either help fight the spam problem on steemit or to magnify their results encouraging them to double down on their efforts.
I would really like that feature. We have almost all of our SP delegated to help grow the Nigerian community, so if someone comes in with even a few 1,000 SP they can effectively take control of 20% of the bounty.
