Mini Motivation #55 - How honest have you been in your writing?

in #psychology7 years ago

Sometimes you read a piece of article, may it be on Steemit or anywhere else, that touched your heart so much that you'd say something like,

"Wow, I wish I had a story like that to tell, and boy, do I wish that I can write like that!"

The truth is you can, because I'm sure you have equally amazing stories and insights to share. If you dig deep, and you remove a few shades of your modesty, I think you'd find those amazing stories within you all along.

So the problem is not the lack of stories, but how you had been telling them.

Had you been retelling your experience, removing your emotions from it? Are you shy to keep your own thoughts to yourself? Did you deliberately change a few parts of the story, down played the details, ignored some critical areas, when writing your stories?

See, those are the parts of your tale what would have gotten the same, if not stronger reaction from your readers. That's the part where you could have connected as humans!

So the next time you're writing you story, here are a few points to remember:

  • Tell the story as how you would want your loved ones to narrate back to you.
  • Emotions are energy in motion. Strip them away, and you'll just get a report on observations.
  • Don't be afraid to share your insights, and to be judged by them. We are all entitled to our thoughts. And when others are being offended by it, know that perhaps it's because they themselves share the same train of thoughts, and society has pressured them into silence.
  • Write as if you only had one shot to leaving your legacy.

Mini Motivation is my own daily strategy to inspire myself. Mostly 3 minute reads.

From Motivation, we gain Inspiration. From Inspiration, we achieve Momentum. And the rest, they say, is history.

Hope it helps nudge you a bit too in the right direction.

Oh it did? Let me know in the comments, and of course an upvote would be a nice motivation for me. :)

Stay awesome!

Wait, why's Mav posting on Steemit nowadays?

Well, unlike other blogging and social media platform, Steemit is the only platform that allows me to earn cryptocurrency when I engage with it. Yup, one Steem is about USD5, and you, too, can earn Steem Dollars every time you:

  • Create content (articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos, photos)
  • Upvote (like) other people contents
  • Comment on other people's posts
  • Have discussions, share opinions etc!

Yup, basically it's the very same thing you're doing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc all along!

The only difference? For once you can earn a nice income on the side!

Sign up for a free Steemit account, and you can thank me by coming back and upvoting this article. And guess what, you will earn Steem too for doing that! #awesome

Write as if you only had one shot to leaving your legacy.

This, sure is a powerful point to remember, and be reminded of. The best stories are always the ones that come from the heart.

High five you on this one, girl!

This is a great piece of encouragement @maverickfoo. I've always believe some miraculous stuff is happening in the atmosphere when we are bold & courageous! It is surely contagious to the people who saw or read it. Another good reminder to myself. Thanks Mav! :)

Haha, some would say you were in the "flow" state, or got your "mojo". The miracles of the unconscious mind is just amazing, and combine that with our I need sense of spirituality, sometimes we can do things that surprises ourselves. If we just let go into the flow, that is. :)

Always have awesome stuff to learn from you. Steemit helps me alot to express my life in writing. ever since Jansen, I barely get to share what I feel and what I had gone through as all the time were used to brace through daily life while uplifting fragile life. This is a great reminder for me to not shy off emotional details. Although it will take out more from to write emotional expressive story than a factual one. Thank daigor @maverickfoo for always guiding.

@deborism and I both believe you have a strong story to share, and because it's real, it will also inspire others to relook at their own priorities, with gratitude, I hope.

I always believe God gives us to the opportunity to practice strength, because He sees great potential in us.

The best stories are the true stories!! If you write foĺlowing your heart you easy find the readers.
Nice post!!! ( as always)

That's true, because it's the truth! Haha. Have a nice week, @martaedyta

Thank you,have fun!!!

I got lots of sad stories but I intentionally not do writing on it...I prefer to make my writing funny.. It makes me happy... Yep, I agreed...its all up to us what kind of story we wanted to share...

Yeah, it's your choice at the end of the day. Retelling a sad tale means you'll have to relive the memories again, which will make you sad.

Sharing happy thoughts not only makes other happy, but importantly, make yourself happy!

It's only when your readers feel what you felt in what you are narrating that they can connect with your story and understand how you felt. I realised this a while ago but rarely do so because I dont usually like people to know hoe I'm feeling always. Can I ask for advice? Is it good to not always want your feelings be transparent?

Yes, when you show your vulnerability, it's not showing that you're weak. Instead, that takes a lot of strength. You will repel some people because they can't handle that kind of honesty, but you know what? You will attract others who appreciates you as who you are, and I think if it helps to attract the right people into my life, then it's worth it.

I see, that's wonderful.

I like to read your mini motivation series! Its inspiring. Indeed, good stories are always the one where readers can feel the emotions of the writer!

Oh hey, thanks for the words of encouragement! Trying to keep a streak here. Day 58 and counting!

Hey, that is a good write up for beginners like me. I'm yet to post anything on my blog, after reading your post, it has given me a rough understanding and idea on what I should write on my introductory post. This really is a great reminder on what I should be doing more and avoid doing. Thanks for the guidance.

Looking forward for an honest introduceyourself!
