Steemit Crypto Academy - Professor Application

Good Morning!

The Steemit Crypto Academy has been gaining traction and is in the process of expanding by possibly adding more Crypto Professors to the team. A Crypto Professor's primary task is to produce a weekly course post on cryptocurrency/blockchain, as well as check all the submissions for the task they asked for.

I have been posting my homework tasks for a few weeks now and have seen how dedicated these Professors are in doing research for their own posts and assuring that they fairly grade and reward the submissions by students. All throughout I've been intrigued and interested in how to become a Crypto Professor myself so I was thrilled when @steemitblog made their announcement about getting new ones. So, here I am, this post serves as my application article to becoming a part of the professors' team.

Read on to learn more about my experiences on Steem and why I think those experiences are very relevant and prove that I am suitable to become a Crypto Professor.

I started Steemit in June 2017 and it has been one of my greatest blockchain experiences. Before Steemit, I've been doing blogging/microblogging on sites like WordPress, Blogger, and Tumblr.

Steemit has mostly been about writing blogs, curation, and being a community. I decided to be focused on those 3 things.

A Steemit Meet-up we've organized before in the Philippines.

I have been actively writing in Steemit from the start on varying topics (arts, community-building, writing, cryptocurrency, etc). I have also been part of groups that focuses on helping people write blogs better, curate/reward posts, and build communities in Steemit.

The key is to adapt to what is in-demand in the platform. I believe being a Jack-of-all-trades is a good thing.

“A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”

Being versatile and adept at different things can help a person succeed. This is true in cryptocurrency where there are multiple blockchains/projects that may overwhelm someone who's not used to learning multiple things at once.

A professor's job is to be a good example by writing excellent weekly articles and also guide students on how to effectively write homework tasks.

Curation is a big part of a Professor's duty. Reviewing posts daily and making sure they are aligned with the tasks given. Plus gauging what grade to give a post requires a great understanding/research of the subject.

Community-building is also important for the cryptoacademy. If professors will solely be concerned about writing posts and grading submissions - the academy may not grow efficiently. Professors need to have soft skills to guide people and encourage them as crypto students.

All 3: writing, curating, & community-building needs Professors with proper knowledge sets and experience to be able to do their job efficiently. If I ever become a Professor, I think I can provide ample knowledge and experience on those criteria.

I have been part of different groups that focuses on 2 or 3 of those:

  • Curie. It's a group that rewards outstandingly written articles in general. I have received multiple upvoted from them before, and have been part of the team that looks for these said well-written articles.

  • Sndbox. This is an incubation group that aims to produce great writers on the Steemit blockchain and rewards them for doing so. I have been invited to be part of a batch of their class.

  • Utopian is a platform that incentivizes contributions that include copywriting, graphic design, data analysis, and more. I have contributed a lot of posts to this group and was even part of the moderator team that curates these submissions.

  • Bayanihan. Is a group that rewards posts by Filipinos. We focus on guiding bloggers in writing quality posts and reward them through curation as well. I was one of the founders of this group.

  • Steemph. Another group I founded with others that focuses on general community-building for Filipinos in the Steemit platform and making Steemit known to those who are not in Steemit yet.

Just in case I will be assigned as a new Steemit Academy Crypto Professor, here's a topic I would cover: NFTs. Since I am also an artist and there is much hype about NFTs in the blockchain nowadays, this is really great topic to have people write about more.

1st week - An Overview on NFTs

For the first week's topic, it will be focused on just the overview of what NFTs are. Nothing fancy. Students may include answers for topics like:

  • What are NFTs
  • Kinds of NFTs in Ethereum
  • NFT ETH platforms
  • Buying and collecting NFTs

2nd week - NFTs in different blockchains & platforms

For the 2nd topic, it can revolve around NFTs on different blockchains (that's not Ethereum).

3rd week - Minting your own NFT

For week 3, students can try minting their own NFTs. Minting NFTs doesn't always need users to pay fees so this is something students can do. There are also different websites where they can do it. This also goes beyond just lecture and will have them apply what they learn and possibly earn from it too.

4th week - Give your own Use-Case for NFTs, Apply it on Steemit

For week 4, they can try to be more creative. This one would rely more on their imagination and critical thinking. Applying what they have learned throughout weeks 1 to 3.

5th week - What if there are no NFTs?

For week 5, it's kinda like week 4's topic but instead of focusing on "what can be", we're going to focus on "what if there's none". This one would still require research on the currently existing use-cases of NFTs, then a student's imaginative brain to provide an alternative to what's going to happen if a certain NFT use-case does not actually exist. Example: There is no NFT-based crypto art. How can we incorporate blockchain into art - they can use their own thinking or do research to check if there are existing projects that integrate the blockchain into art.

Alternatively, we can do a comparison between NFTs and an existing traditional counterpart. For example NFT trading cards vs Physical trading cards (Topps, Pokemon, NBA/Baseball cards, etc).

As of today, I have written a total of 20 homework tasks for the Crypto Academy. I have also invited a few people (family and friends) to write on crypto academy (so far, they're doing great and receiving good scores when they post). This is one of the homework posts I have submitted to a professor which got a grade of 10 and wonderful feedback from him:

Years ago, I've also written these blog posts on Steemit that's about cryptocurrency:

Those are just samples of blog posts that I've written not because of a task but because of my passion for blogging and cryptocurrencies around that time.

Thanks a lot for reading!

Again, I would like to thanks the professors for being dedicated to their task at hand, I know it's not easy because I've experienced the same thing before back when I was actively curating people's posts. Thanks for @steemitblog for this wonderful initiative and for opening the application for possible new professors.

Have a good day!

Summary of experience and why I'm suitable to be a professor were combined and are less than 500 words total. The list of possible weekly topics is less than 500 words total. I'm from the Philippines. There are no professors yet from South East Asia. Images with no source were made or taken by me. Thanks @steemitblog.

I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least 6 SBD worth and should receive 39 votes. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.
