How Has STEEM Impacted My Life? Let Me Count the Ways...

in #steemimpact5 years ago (edited)

Seeing as there's a writing challenge going on from @ theycallmedan, hey I should share my side of the story too. Hehe. It's not everyday anyone is curious to know what STEEM and Steemit means for it's members.

Basically for me the two are interchangeable as there would be no STEEM without Steemit. Most members wouldn't sign up if there isn't anything to earn on here. At least for me that's why I signed up.

Did Steem/Steemit Have Any Big Impact on My Life?

So far it hasn't yet. I'm still waiting on something to happen because of Steemit and it hasn't happened so far. What am I waiting for? Well I haven't had any real estate buyer from my posts here yet. 😂

Yes I did get a client but she has not purchased anything as of now due to some personal documentation issues on her end. Only time will tell if I will ever have a buyer because of my posts here. Haha. Been 2 years and nada.

I may be expecting too much from this site in regards to selling real estate. This career is not easy but hey it's free to dream. There are plenty of other sites to post on but I still choose to write property related stuff on here, even FAQs on condo buying for newbies.

Anyway, I'm happy to have learned other Steemit related things. 🤷 As for Steemit newbies, read my post on the 5 things I learned on Steemit when I was just 3 months old here.

How Long Have You Been on Steemit?

I've been a Steemian since late November 2017 but only became active around January 2018 onwards.

2 years ago I was able to write more than 400 posts! Whoa. Haha. Why not when the value of Steem/SBD was like P56 to 1 SBD. At some point it was even higher. I was like, blown away when one quality post actually earned P9,000 (around $177 as of today's currency exchange) from a Curie upvote! Damn. Those were the days.

In 2019 I was only able to post a little over 150. Why? Well I got busy finalizing a preselling Westin condo resale and working on other things too. I used to write more than 1 post a day, now I only do 1 post a day, sometimes I don't even write one at all. Haha.

Like anything in life, you do it more often when it is new to you. When you get used to it it's not going to be done or used as often as before. 😉

Did STEEM/Steemit Change Your Life?

It's not too life changing so far. Just another site to write and share my thoughts on plus get some bits of moolah out of it. If you want to know why I still write here, read my answer to that back in 2018.

The Internet as a whole has the biggest impact on my life. It definitely changed my life. Steemit is just one part of it and as I mentioned, hasn't affected me in a big way yet.

I hope it has/does change the life of more people and plants/animal life though, not just me. I've been posting environmental stuff on here to spread conservation awareness. There is a need for more people to be aware of how we are wasteful and using up the Earth's resources then expecting it to still sustain us. That is a funny way to think.

Sustainability and being responsible to future generations is the answer so people do not lose their livelihood or big source of income. 👍 Remember that our food and everything else comes from natural resources, depleting them means we reduce our source of life. We may think we are not affected individually but think again.

How Has STEEM and Steemit Impacted my Life So Far

Okay so here's my answer to what people would like to know.

Steem/Steemit Taught Me How Cryptocurrency and Trading Works

For someone who had no clue or interest in stocks and bitcoin, I learned a lot thanks to STEEM/Steemit. After experiencing "nosebleed" from learning how to use the site back in 2018, eventually I learned how to read charts and use crypto exchanges, etc.

Who knew that if you're really interested in something you wouldn't need to force yourself to learn at all? I mean, chart reading is just an offshoot of me learning how to use this site. If I didn't do research on cryptos, exchanges, cryptowallets and cashing out, I wouldn't be interested in charts at all. All for the sake of earning extra money. Hahaha.

I can definitely go into trading in the stock market too but nah. I think I will stick to cryptos for the meantime.

Steem/Steemit Taught Me The Art of Begging for Attention

Does this sound like a negative thing to you? It does happen to newbies who are only after money. I started that way as well but it can quickly get one frustrated. (Better learn from this experience and move on from it quick. Hehe.)

What I learned from that doesn't always apply outside the site but it's alright. It's still good to have experienced the "begging for scraps" stage on here especially when the value was really high.

(No I didn't reach the point of being a troll but I did accidentally learn how to do it outside of here. Haha.)

Eventually I learned how to get attention to my posts in better ways: site interaction, commenting, joining communities, having fun with contests, etc. Next thing I know more people are noticing my posts the natural way. Hehehe. Thanks to the curators/big fishes who have me on their list. ♥️

Shoutout to those who still often curate and do their best to check on a lot of people, including those who haven't become their friends yet on here.

STEEM/Steemit Gave Me Another Way To Earn Extra Money and Share Cryptos Too

Okay, I have not become rich off of Steemit at all. Back in 2018 I even wrote how much I earned from this site.

Other people have been earning a lot from posting videos on dTube. I know because I saw how fast one person was able to grow their account. Some earn a lot because they are part of a community and are very active. Meanwhile I'm just here, posting whatever I want to post.

It's not easy to create quality content so seeing some posts getting high upvotes even with just one image seems unfair but hey, that's Steemit for you. After Hard Fork 21 it seems like the site dynamics have changed for the better.

I also used to do art contests where I gave away STEEM/SBD to winners of my choosing. Hehehe. I've never held any crypto prize related contests before so it was fun while it lasted. Other than that I also curate people whenever I can. My upvote isn't big but still every little bit counts for people.

Anyway, I'm not here for the money alone anymore. If I was I would still be posting a lot. Haha. Still doesn't hurt to earn some extra cash from Steemit.

Thank you everyone for your support. :)

Steem/Steemit Taught Me to be More Grateful

On my first year here I was becoming a negative person again. Why not when I was not earning a lot as other people who were getting big upvotes left and right even with non-quality posts. These days you don't see much of that anymore but it is still happening. Or maybe I'm just not seeing them as much cause I haven't been able to go around like I used to.

Lots of people were complaining back then and so it was a relief to see positive posts as well. The grateful vibes initiative was going around so I joined and wrote the things I am grateful for too. It's better to be thankful than be forever bitter in life right? Haha.

The good things in life will not come to us if we are always negative or worse, suicidal. We will only attract more negativities instead of the random things to be happy about.

And so of course I wrote more of the things I should be grateful of in life. The brain is a fascinating thing. If we focus more on the good we see more good in our life and our surroundings.

Life is already hard, let's not make it more difficult for ourselves by thinking of bad things. Let's also take action to make the world a better place in whatever small way we can.

Would I Recommend STEEM/Steemit Over Other Similar Projects/Sites/Crypto?

Well of course! It's where I learned more about the crypto world. Hahaha. What better way to start learning about it than here in Steemit? Or start using the other Steem dApps like Tasteem, Steemhunt, etc., and go from there. Lots of new tokens available here too so feel free to join us if you're not a member yet.

So that's it for me: four ways in how STEEM/Steemit impacted my life. How about you? What's your story?

XOXO,
