binding
This piece is for a poetry contest, Writing Feather, which requires me to write about an emotion that I dont normally write about, because my words are inadequate to describe it. Let's see if you can guess what it is without me telling.
We had that kind of bond
like Velcro adhesive
the kind where fate tears us apart
then sticks us together
pages later in another scene
cast as lovers or friends inside
a rabid Shakespearean screenplay
Yet we had a habit
of pursuing open conversations
knowing each others thoughts
touching and staring as if the world might end
witnessing the cloudburst
as rain pelted our crude blemish of trust
yet we remained still
soaking wet
breathing in the scent of tongues
lessening the distance between us
Present participles
taken up three scenes later
lingering soft words tangling our hearts
like fragments to glitter
waiting to be fit into a kaleidoscope
each turn of the wheel a day
where we melted apart
then drifted together
a ray of colored patterns
of limb on limb
a wordless caress
endless permutations of joy
The tilt of your head
a Rorschach blot
waiting for the moment
where synchronicity meets serendipity
we have become one
a pattern forming on a loom
the weaver ties the knot that binds
together we turn the page
the next chapter of our story

I'm not sure, in any case... it was excellent. Very tangible passion. Marriage of opposites. Soul union. intwining like DNA strands...
