Violet Med

in #writing6 years ago (edited)

With an eye for detail
Not to be matched

A flower in the backyard
Becomes the star

Caught by the camera
of a substitute teacher

The love and joy she shares
A mother with hopes for her children
They've grown but she has not outgrown them
Country roads leads to the heart of her prayer

Every flower has a story
Every garden plant for glory

Seeds carry a message to the nations
Bees carry pollen to the next plant

Texas roads has she trodden
From school to school

Kids remember her for a day
She is not forgotten

What a blast
to have Violet Med in class

Every day is new
As long as you are new inside

Each day has a groove of its own
Each flower a song to sing

Winds blow seeds away
The flower comes back again
Even if it dries

Sing together
for the moment we have it
The orchestra around us
Echos the song of a violet

The poem and the picture are both for Violet Med... enjoy:-)

Over the past 6 months I made over 4000 posts in. I started out here with nothing but along the way I meet really cool Steemians who supported me with encouraging words and with Steem. I saw some people make posts when they get to 1000 followers and say some kind of congratulations and thank you for your support but I believe each individual is so precious to my life and my time on Steemit. I don't really know what to give back to those who supported me thus far so I am giving a poem for each one.

I only have twenty five days left until the end of the poetry challenge so only twenty five will get a chance. I remember the cool people who helped me out along the way. I will write a poem for you. There are many more than twenty five but each day when one person comes to mind I will write a poem to remember you. It doesn't matter if you are a whale or minnow. I remember your words and your faithfulness and will just write about the person I remember each day.

The first one I want to honor and congratulate is @violetmed for her never ending support to the @steemitpoetry and to the poets on Steemit. I cannot speak for everyone but I think we all owe you a big thank you for your support. Have a wonderful week. Summer vacation is coming soon to American Schools. Enjoy your vacation. You deserve it. Hats off to the best substitute teacher in Texas.

This poem is for day 75 in the 100 day poetry competition @d-pend.(Steemschool Discord) All pictures here are from my smartphone.

Oh my goodness, thank you for writing me this poem! It was totally unexpected! I had a good cry about it! I had a terrible day subbing kids on this past Friday - 6th graders(12 year olds). They were so disrespectful, I couldn’t have fun sharing my years of knowledge, I just wanted to go home! Then I read that 2 substitute teachers were killed in that Texas school on that same Friday. Last night when I posted those photos to Steemit, I was thinking why am I even bothering to do this. Who really needs my silly flower posts? Thank you Christopher for giving me hope for a new week! Yesterday I went to church to celebrate Pentecost. We had an amazing sermon reminding us we all have The Holy Spirit with us and we each have a calling on Earth to fulfill. Thank you again for everything in the poem -you captured a lot of my feelings and hopes! Steemit has some amazing people! Love you my friend! ❤️

Dear @violetmed. Sorry to be so long in returning this comment. Although we are half a world apart we share the same experience each day. How many times a day I thought about how useless it is to teach kids that don't listen and don't care and what's worse are in a prison forced to remain in a class pushed by a bell a herded like sheep.

Then I remember I chose to be here. Texas is a great place. There is enough news about political leaders and activists but there is only one you. There is a story that each of has every day. We can choose to write that story or throw it away. Even if we do not write it the story remains in our collection. Sometimes it comes out with spider webs and mildew years later, but the story is still there. It never goes away. That is why I really got into Steemit. Not only do I find a crypto reward in exchange for any work I create but I find a place to share my stories. People who will listen and things change. The only problem I have now is I have three or four stories in a day and not enough time or energy to write them and make them into a post.

I am so honored to have a friend like you. I am mutually encouraged by the sermon you heard on Sunday. Days before the Pentecost the disciples prayed. When the Holy Spirit came on them they were changed and were given power to complete the task that Jesus called them to do. I felt conflicted that spending time on Steemit distracted me from completing this task, but now I see that they can be one and the same together. Hearts are touched and lives are changed. I am glad I can be used and I am greatly humbled at your words. Bless you my friend.

Love,

@mineopoly

God bless you dear

I vaguely remember a song by Nicola Di Bari. It began: "The violets have grown here" or more or less. Well it was a very nice romantic song.

Thanks for your wonderful poems, Christopher. You are appreciated. Lovely to honor VioletMed. I like your working space-inspiration for your poetry.

I usually work in my school office but we had a day off today so I stayed home. This is the park in front of our house :-)

I love the trees and the brook. I just wish the air wasn't polluted. You will get a poem too. I still have 24.

Nice to have the green space near your house. Sorry about the air quality. The tree leaves help with pollution.

Yes. No problem. Just got to drink a lot of water. Korea is beautiful. Although there is a big gap in neighborhoods.

What a beautiful poem and pretty flowers. God bless

Thanks... our blessed friend has been sharing a lot more than flowers with us. I'm glad we are mining the heart together.

You have an incredible ability to write and connect people with your poems, I really liked it, regards

Thank you for your lovely comment @franyelisanchez. How are you doing? Are you a student in Venezuela?

Thanks for taking the time to share your beautiful work and soul with us. I always enjoy your poems, even if I only leave an upvote. :D

Thank you for the compliment and for following. I do appreciate Hoosiers from breaking away to (I don't know.... whatever is south of Munster) right right... the Colts.

I like interacting with Steem USA and I follow your posts. I'm a little slower with comments these days but I'm so happy to see a decrease in spam and increase in community :-)

Beautiful tribute to your friend, dear @mineopoly. You are an exceptional human being.
