#23 What is it? First to guess right wins! 3 SBI SHARES up for GRABS!

in #whatisit6 years ago (edited)

What is it?

Well after the balls up that was H20, we are back and I am interested to see who is still playing on the blockchain, so please come, join me for my weekly contest and tell us what this image is...

This contest was inspired by a game we played with the kids at my niece's birthday one year, albeit slightly more advanced. As with all my contests they are simple enough, guess right and win.

What do you have to guess?

You need to guess this image. It’s a zoomed in shot from an actual object.

As always I aim to keep you guessing but interested for as long as possible, I hope this is tricky but doable. Make sure you give a detailed answer. If you can't be exact then be fun as I will be looking for the most interesting answer for some additional @sbi shares this week!

macro game.jpg

What am I?

What do you win?

The first to guess will win a @steembasicincome share, two other shares will be given out for fun to those who play the game.

Winners will be chosen at my discretion based on the image details I have.

Sponsors wanted to help the fun continue!

I am still looking for some or any sponsors to help me share the love and pay it forward, there are so many good answers and I would love to give more, so if you know anyone that could help out with a @sbi share, a @steem-bounty or some SBD for the winners/most creative answer etc, me and my awesome followers would really appreciate it.

If you are keen, please feel free to comment below or contact me on Discord (insideoutlet#9162)

Can I guess more than once?

Yes, feel free to guess as many times as you like I will check in daily to let you know if you have guessed right or wrong so you can guess again if a winner has not been announced.

Last Week’s Contest

This weeks image again was taken close to home and used to make some delicious cupcakes for a housewarming party, I made way to many. I and our son has now been eating them for the last week. There are only four left so almost time to get baking again. :D

The first to guess "grated lemon peel" was @evlachsblog, who after reading the comment responses found a hint. It was actually "lemon zest" but I did it with a grater so I will count it this week. it was quickly guessed again by @anutu who didn't read the comments but won last week's creative contest and was happy to just get it right.

As for most creative, this week it had to be @quillfire who started a "what is it not" contest, which was an epic fail as he ticked off @evalachsblog's answer as an incorrect answer prematurely. Either way, too fun not too read so here is an insert:

Instead of trying to guess "what it is," let's figure out "what it isn't" and use the process of elimination. Sherlock Holmes "…when you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

OK, let's start with the bloody obvious: It sure as Hell is not sauerkraut. That has been established with absolute certainty. So, there is absolutely NO REASON for anyone else to guess sauerkraut. And, I don't think there's much upside in just changing the name: "It's shredded cabbage marinated in vinegar." As Shakespeare never said, "A bowl of sauerkraut by any other name would smell as bad."

It also is not pasta, although I wish it were because I would now be a very wealthy man. And, it's not a sponge or anything sponge-like, like a loofah.

So, what's left?

Well, it's clearly a thing ... so it's a noun. We can thusly eliminate all verbs, adverbs, adjectives and prepositions. Now THAT just made things a lot easier, didn't it? @insideoutlet said in reply to one of the comments that it was, "a food." So, I think we can safely eliminate satellites in near-Earth orbit and automobiles irrespective of make or model.

She said it wasn't cheese or salad and, thanks to @evlachsblog's utter lack of commitment, we know it's not: grated lemon peel; grated radish; grated sweet potato or grated cassava ... or for that matter, anything grated. :-) It's also not rice, thinly sliced potatoes or hash-browns. And, it's not a cauliflower mushroom or coconut shavings. Not noodles or seaweed, nor @kitchenfairy's double-downed commitment to both ... "kelp/seaweed noodle."

And, although not yet disconfirmed, I'm not entirely convinced by @bashadow's theory that it is: "A frozen tater tot, that fell on the floor, broke open, dog tried to get, thus the tiny hair, dog got yelled at, ran away with tail between legs, accidentally knocking some soft margarine onto it with his big fluffy tail, (prior to tucking it), you picked it up sat it on a fancy paper towel, (the slight papery pattern in the top right corner), flashbulb went off above the head, <"hey this would be a good whatsit"> picture, went to get camera, margarine melted real well into the tater tot, thus the slight shine as you took the picture."

Sushi has also not yet been disconfirmed but, @lacl, if you've ever eaten raw fish that looked like THAT ... you need to hire a lawyer.

Come on, guys ... it's an off-white, yellowish food. It's something a lot better cooked than raw. How hard can this be? We're all smart people, right?

And on that note, all @sbi shares have now been paid.

A quick shout out to @simplymike! Thank you for all your sponsorship over the last 8 weeks, you have helped me double the winnings to the players, even if you haven't got close to a correct answer yet. haha...

Sticking with the fruit albeit less sweet, more sour, unless added while baking bringing out the sweet lemon taste.

Any other rules?

Nope, that's it! There are no requirements to follow, upvote or resteem although I would love you to consider all three.

I hope you try again this week and as always I look forward to hearing all your guesses.

Note: If you want me to stop tagging you, please let me know in the comments and I will remove from next week.

Last weeks winners!

@viking-ventures got it correct with a galah, @quillfire was just too funny and @thekitchenfairy was super persistent. haha. thanks to everyone who played, I am so sorry for the delay in the outcomes. Been one of those months, I will be back soon.

@insideoutlets,

Much appreciated. I'm going to be completely serious on the next one though. I almost got this one ... too much fooling around.

Quill

A merkin!

Is it a boa?

Loading...

is it a flamingo?

The back of a 'My Little Pony' ;0)

Lemon zest??!!!!

With this latest puzzle, I'm going to go with crepe paper/streamer thingies :)

@lynncoyle1,

You've been living in Mexico too long. Your diet of Pina Coladas is making you see ... pinatas. :-)

Quill

oh sure, talk is cheap. You just write a long-winded, albeit poetic response, and never really offer up a substantial answer :)

And I do drink way too much here!

@lynncoyle1,

Talk IS cheap. Look at my wallet. If it were pay-per-word, @ned would be my butler.

And BTW, rhyming Pina Coladas with Pinatas ... was inspired. Shakespeare himself would have been proud. I'm not taking it back, Lynn. :-)

You and Brian, hiding out in Central America ... you're like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Quill

My first thought was that it was some part of a Lady Gaga costume but @quillfire already beat me to that and with an absolutely incredible explanation which included reverse engineering, mapping and triangulation... pure genius.

I can say with absolute certainty that the picture is a small portion of one of my late Grandmothers coffee table doilies. Pretty sure it was the same doily she kept the bowl of Christmas ribbon candy in pretty much all year round.

()

@jbreheny,

There a special place in Poets' Heaven for anyone who still utilizes the word, "doilies" in a sentence. It's a good word ... but one wonders where it originated.

"Bertha, dear, do be a darling and pass me that ... um ... you know, that (pointing at the sidetable) ... what is it called? 'Doily' ... I suppose. Please pass me that doily."

Quill

Based on my quick research it was the name of a 17th century draper. I could probably dig a little deeper but I felt a little dirty just using the word to begin with and researching any more on the word is a rabbit hole I prefer not to go down.

Now if you'll excuse me I have to go help my wife find the perfect blouse.

@jbreheny,

17th century draper ... who knew? Because your wife calls it a "blouse," it costs twice as much as your "shirt." :-)

Quill

My wife actually laughs at me when I use the word blouse but my mother and grandmother used to use it all the time. Sometimes I feel like such a relic.

I hope I'm wrong, actually - because this would be the fastest - ever...
But you're in Australia... and I happen to LOVE your beautiful Galah or Rose-breasted cockatoo. This picture looks like feathers from one of these beauties.

I've only loved Galahs since the first time I saw one in a magazine as a teenager, lol. I've never seen one personally though.

That's what my guess was going to be!
😆

You would be correct and last weeks winner, I am so sorry for the delay, I haven't been feeling the best and Steemit was one of the things I could reduce without breaking me. Fly out of the state tomorrow so thought I should get these paid.
