Weekly Report - Visibility Category by Utopian.io [Week 8, 2019]
Hello everyone!
Welcome to the fifth Visibility Report for 2019! This week we are happy to inform you of a new task request that you may be interested in!
(A new post will follow soon with more details about it - so stay tuned!)
Time frame
This report is for contributions during the time frame 14 February until 21 February 2019.
Overview
During the previous weeks I have sent some messages to digital marketers who are on steem, inviting them to join us but I have seen no interaction, unfortunately.
I shall keep trying and in the meantime we are enjoying the visibility reports by our regular contributor and we are very lucky to inform you of a task request by @the1ramp
Ways of Contributing to the Category
- If you have a Facebook page or twitter account, you can promote whitelisted open source projects via promoted/paid posts.
- If you have social media accounts with more than 10.000 followers, you can write about open source projects and promote them to your followers.
- Paid search engine and display ads placement

Weekly Report for Week 8 2019
14 February 2019 - 21 February 2019
Contributions' Specifics
During the previous week there were 3 contributions in total and 1 task-request
Review Date | Author | Link to Post | Reviewed By | Score |
---|---|---|---|---|
15/2/2019 | @jingis07 | Promoting hearth | @katerinaramm | 52.5 |
17/2/2019 | @jingis07 | Promoting Strapi | @katerinaramm | 62.5 |
18/02/2019 | @jingis07 | Promoting 1ramp | @katerinaramm | 48.5 |
---- | ---- | Average Score | ---- | 54.5 |
18/02/2019 | @the1ramp | Task Request | @katerinaramm | 80 |
---- | ---- | ---- | Average Score Task Request | 80 |
The average of the contributions is 54.5 Vs 68.75 of last week.
The most common mistakes were
- not including references for information posted
- Typos and not clear, compelling messages
- Not incuding references to previous promotions of the same projects
- Not enough research or experience of the project promoted
- Repetitive reports, with typos and little to no educational content
- We have seen 3 open source project promotions:
(.) hearth - Hearth.Net is an online gifting marketplace and generosity based social network built on the principals of the gift economy. It is a place where people can reclaim their daily relationships with the generous world that surrounds them.
(.) strapi - An Open source Headless CMS Front-End Developers love.
(.)the1ramp - A social, steem based platform, where users can join communities of their interest, discover exciting content, and see what happens when 8 creative domains engage on 1 platform.
In all cases there was more than 10.000 reach to the promotions. Apart from the reach created and clicks to the links (more than 2%), there was little interaction with the posts and no other information provided regarding conversions.
Previous Reports
Number of Contributions Per Week
The week with most contributions (5) remains week 49. 2019 may have not had too many, however it appears to keep a steady number of contributions, which we try to increase (more information for this below)
Number of Contributions Per User
The Top Contributor is @jingis07 with 13 contributions. We hope to see more digital marketers joining soon and increasing creativity + competition :)
Average Score of Contributions Per Week
The average score 67.25 (both task requests included), but maybe it will be better to separate them as of next week.
Next Moves for the Visibility Category
In my last weekly report I expressed some thoughts about making the Visibility Category more .. visible, so that we can have more people onboard. I have found and contacted some users on steem (users and companies who specialize on marketing and have or manage Facebook pages). So far I have received no replies, but this will be an ongoing effort, so stay tuned for more.

About Utopian & The Visibility Category
What is Utopian? | What is the Visibility Category? |
---|---|
Utopian is a Social Platform, aiming to empower professionals for contributing to the Open Source Movement. | The Visibility Category aims to shed more light to the whitelisted Open Source Projects and to attract the general attention of end users around the world. |
As stated at the website, Open Source is free, common property and developed by volunteers around the world and available for everyone. | Contributions in the visibility category are (1) paid search engine and display ads placement; (2) paid social media ads; (3) posts to social media accounts with at least 10,000 unique followers. |
Open Source Software often runs in our computer, phone or tablet and its development relies on collective intelligence. All this work is done by the developers for free! Utopian educates, motivates and rewards everyone who contributes to Open Source Projects, provided that certain guidelines are being met. | You can click here and select Visibility to read the current guidelines (new ones are being worked upon as we speak). If you have a Facebook page or are very active with a large follow on social media platforms, feel free to take a look and contact me about how you could contribute! |

Thank you for providing the category update. The report is well-written and informative. I like how you always include comprehensive details on how to contribute to the category, and the details about Utopian. This report is even more detailed with the tips you provided for contributors. It's a job well done!
A little thing you could fix is how you separate 10.000. I tend to read it as ''Ten point zero'' which should be 10,000. It's just a simple fix, but it has a significant meaning.
I appreciate your effort in working to grow the category. The approach is good, and I am optimistic.
Please note that while the CM hasn't changed the footer, I am not scoring #iamutopian posts based on the questionnaire. They have their own metric, and that will be the case until we go live with the new guidelines and new questionnaire, which will be comprehensive enough to reflect these types of posts.
