Travel Digest #267

Introduction

Hi everyone! @livinguktaiwan here with supposedly yesterday's edition of the #traveldigest. @martibis is a bit caught up with grown up stuff in the real world ie job hunting and @choogirl is getting her beauty sleep that's why this edition is a bit delayed. Luckily the three of us are scattered over three different timezones so you won't be left without your favourite daily read ^_^

#1 Lost Coast: Hiking California's Most Rugged Coastline

As always we can expect a great post from @adonisabril. He goes on a 26 mile trek along a rugged coastline in California, USA in our first featured post today. This trek takes 3 days and 2 nights and goes past some of the most wilderness which are also the most beautiful scenery. You need a permit to hike here as well as good knowledge and advance planning of the tidal times. All this is for your own safety, so its well worth being prepared. Apart from the stunning coastline in the wild, he comes across some sea lions up close and personal, and a carcass of a whale. Oh dear! The whales on Steemit are much safer here.

#2 Chanatsite Lakes and Haramiyata Peak in Rila Mountain

@danielapetk went on a hike around the Chanatsite Lakes in Bulgaria, this is the source of River Iskar, the longest river in Bulgaria. These two lakes are by Haramiyata Peak in Rila Mountain. Apparently, Rila is claimed to be one of places with the strongest energy field on the planet and every summer a well known spiritual leader called Peter Deunov and his thousands of followers come here to welcome the sunset and perform their rituals. If you're not into group rituals, you can climb the peak yourself. When you get to the top, you get a fantastic view of the group of Seven Rila Lakes on the other side of the ridge.

#3 Savannah Series: First African Baptist Church

Our final featured post today is from one of our frequent contributors @for91days. Their Savannah, USA series takes us to First African Baptist Church which is the oldest black church in North America. It was founded by the slaves and took them four years to build. From the outside, the church looks quite normal but inside is pretty impressive and has various small touches which you probably wouldn't notice if you don't go on a guided tour. For example there's a secret crawlplace underneath the floor to help runaway slaves, and the decorative ceilings is a tribute to this humanitarian purpose.
