Statue Series - What's The Story: The King and His Wife
This statue is of King Andrew 1 and his wife, Anastasia of Kiev, a Ukrainian Princess.
This statue fascinates me as none of the sources I read, referred the king's wife as queen, always as his wife, I wonder why though.
King Andrew 1 was King of Hungary from 1046 to 1060 and as King Andrew 1 founded the nearby Monastery of Tihany, it's only natural there is this statue of him and his wife just right outside the Benedictine Tihany Abbey.
Should you plan to visit Hungary, go to Tihany Abbey, tons to see, lovely scenery, a lot of statues and historical artifacts inside the abbey 😊

Interesting what you say about sources not referring to her as queen. It would be somewhat understandable if she was a commoner who became a queen by marrying a king, but that obviously wasn't the case.
Anyway, nice photo, the statue is unusual in its form, but looks good nevertheless. Thanks for sharing.
If you search Queen Anastasia of Hungary, yes there would be literature of her as queen, but you search King Andrew 1, she is a wife rather than a queen. I am not too sure why it's like that 😁 I do know the Hungarians referred her as Queen tho 😊

Seeing as it's not in the post I'm guessing you never found out why the wife was a wife but not a queen? :)
To Hungariabs irl, she is always referred as queen Anastasia. On the net, from English typed sources, always a wife, but in Hungarian literatures she is always mentioned as queen, and as I mentioned on above comment, if we search her as Queen Anastasia of Hungary, there are articles mentioning her as Queen 😀
