Statue Series - What's The Story: Franz Liszt, The Famous Composer
While visiting Pecs, Hungary, I spotted this odd, interesting statue, on a balcony, looking down at me.
Only after explained who the statue was, only then it made sense why the statue look like this:
(Hint, it's the hair)
I honestly thought it was a statue of a knight or a lord TBH 😅
Yes, this is the statue of the famous Hungarian composer, pianist, conductor, teacher, all around awesome philanthropist, Franz Liszt.
On this statue, he is actually wearing a raincoat, which I thought to be a cape 😁
This statue has been placed on the side of the Bishop's Palace decades ago. It is depicting the composer leaving the balcony and was complemented for the 200th anniversary of the composer's birth.
Franz Liszt had three concerts in Pecs back in the 1800s, and one of the venues was at the Cathedral.
If you are visiting Pecs, spot this statue at the Bishop's Palace (Archbishopal Palace).

Casual statue just chilling on the balcony is interesting an unusual, too used to seeing them posing heroically on pedestals or perched evilly on buildings XD
Huh! Now that you mentioned it, actually according to the sculptor, it was the only pose that he could do it (that would fit the balcony) 😀
