Statue Series - What's The Story: Monpera, People's Monument
These statues are located in Balikpapan, Indonesia. It is of a monument to commemorate the people's fight against the invaders, Dutch, and later Japanese against the Dutch.
When the monument was built the first time, the statue was actually of a Dayak figure - Dayak, is the native people of Borneo, but since it was made of wood, it didn't last quite good, so when the city renovated the monument, they added the copper statues of the people (and Dayak figure as well) instead, in 1995.
As you can see the statues are holding a flag, which is Indonesian flag as symbol of the fight.
This monument was totally open for public before, then after another major renovation, a part of the monument was open for public, other part was for art performances and whatnot. This monument has immediate access to Balikpapan beach.
Sadly in 2016, this monument collapsed as the foundation right below the statues was rusty.
I have yet to return to the monument so I have no idea whether it has been rebuilt again or not.

I used to have tons of statues/sculptures photos and files (and our life pictures obv). My youngest was learning to walk, he was 13 months at that time, and he accidentally tripped near our external hard drive where we stored everything, it fell off the table and the device broken inside apparently, all those memories gone (from 2005-2014), sad day 😌
Outwardly I have this pained/sympathetic expression and inside I am internally screaming and running around in panic flailing circles.
I have multiple redundant backups precisely for this reason and am currently a nervous wreck as I need another drive XD
