Statue Series - What's The Story: Echo
Up in Tihanyi, Hungary, there is a copper statue of what I thought to be a sirene at one time, but no literature mention that it is. It is referred as Echo.
At the hilly spot where this statue is located, when it's at optimal conditions, the sound you make while at this spot would produce 7 times echo.
The sculptor made the statue reddish to reflect the sun of the mountainside and also the natural color of bronze, to reflect echo.
Legend has it, there was a girl who was so greedy and cursed to be a rock. Once a while you would hear her cry as the hill is her crying place.
Translated from a Hungarian tale
Old good times
A beautiful princess
Golden-haired goats
Guarded at Tihany's.
Many flocks came up with the flock,
What the heck is on the mountain;
More with the girl,
Beauty with a wig.
His eyes, his night's sleep,
There is no match for his face;
Only on a rosebush lips
There is a silent, clunky clamp.
"Give me a nice girl, your lamb
A cup of fresh milk,
For my sick son
And I solved your language.
He spoke to the fairy of Balaton,
The Fall Wave King;
From lips to knee
The snow white beard.
He gave milk to his son,
The beautiful princess
And the word is the king of water
He shrugged.
And it was more silvery than the silver,
Sweeter than moth
The voice of the beautiful girl;
The patient was healed.
But it got pride,
The girl and her wild dwarf,
By hearing what's beautiful, what a charm
Now the lips are speech.
As a treasure trove of money,
She has a tongue with her spice;
It does not bother you,
This little song.
For the glory of God
He did not open it,
The poor man's complaint
It does not bother soft consolation.
To brother and friend,
He closed in Irige,
It's a love affair
No stone was opened.
Which he soon won
The hearts of many young people,
The roses are shriveled
He was so tired.
He only took one in his grave
Deeper feeling;
His son,
Who did it for?
The golden-haired flock
Your milk is poor here
Magic, magic love,
Which poison has become its heart ...
The lake is the king of autumn
It was so harsh,
From witch to daughter
She asked the fox curse.
The wicked fire fired,
His rock was all raging,
Three days, three nights like
Judgment day passed.
The flock to Lake Balaton
He was frustrated, but he was lost -
The lake still picks up
The goat's turkeys.
And the girl forever
It was spell bound,
She keeps her as a prisoner,
Who knows which cavity?
No one can see with eyes,
Can not be hand-picked.
But anyone who addresses it,
Your voice is heard.
Because he said punishment
The Fairy Curls Out:
To live with his tongue,
By which he had done it.
And who is ringing with her beautiful voice
He abused miserably,
With God and man
He did not talk about your dread:
Now - though you say so,
Although rich and poor:
He has to answer
At the top of these wounds.
Behind this statue tho, a restaurant also called Echo offers great view when you dine there!

Did you try yelling to hear the 7 echos?
I wanted to, but next to this hill was cemetery! I didn't feel comfortable to try. None of the ppl we went to with did so 😁 and plus, tons ppl at the restaurant, they would think I was a lost ape or something 😂
