Statue Series - What's The Story: The Falcon
This winged youth statue is another statue that you can also find at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. It is a very nice statue and also interesting to say the least.
According to the history, the sculpture was basing it on John Webster, a leading Canadian aviation racer who died in a crash during practice, in 1931. He was the first Canadian to race at Great Britain's King's Cup Air Race.
This statue is 1.2 meter in height and with a 1.7 meter wing span, which is of raptors. There are 4 wings as you can see, and the statue is showing how he is ready to take off for a flight.
The story of this statue itself is super fascinating to read. It was first made in the form of a throphy before the artist (who was also a professor of McGill, but later taught mostly in the USA) decided to make a full size statue as well.
