The Original Last Supper Painting & It's Conspiracy Theories
Greetings Steemians!
Milan is not just Italy's fashion capital but also well known for art. The city is home to the original Last Supper painting, one of Leonardo Da Vinci's greatest masterpeice and just across the road is his house & vineyard, known as Casa Degli Atellani - La Vigna Di Leonardo.
And ofcourse...a picture is a must!
A SHORT HISTORY & CONSPIRACY THEORIES
The Last Supper measures 460 cm × 880 cm (180 in × 350 in) and covers an end wall of the dining hall at the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie.
Leonardo started the painting in 1495 and completed it in 1498.
It depicts a famous scene from Holy Thursday, in which Jesus and his Apostles sharing a final meal before his death and resurrection. During the dinner, Jesus revealed that one of his disciples (Judas) would betray him and hand him over to the authorities for execution.
Leonardo da Vinci’s painting is not the only version of The Last Supper. All earlier versions of the scene paint Jesus and disciples each with a halo But da Vinci's version omits this feature, implying they are common men & experts say this suggests the artist was indicating that Jesus was mortal.
Dan Brown Theory who popularized the Da Vinci Code suggests that the person seated to Jesus's right in da Vinci's depiction of The Last Supper is Mary Magdalene & not John as most scholars believe.
Mario Taddei theory a Milan-based inventor and expert of Da Vinci's work who spent 15 years analyzing the artist’s work suggest that the people Da Vinci depicted in the painting are common simple men and not saints, implying that Jesus too was a mortal. :D
....and that's just some of those theories you probably didn't heard yet before. What do you think of this conspiracies?

The Last Supper is Milan's top art attraction, so the number of visitors is strictly limited. Tickets sell out months in advance because of this, so if your an arTravel enthuasiast, booking a skip-the-line tour is one of the easiest ways to see the masterpiece.

True...Another theory claims that the Last Supper contains a hidden image of a woman holding a child (one of Dan Brown theories). 😀
