WOW - YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT I JUST FOUND OUT!!! - Has ANYONE Ever Heard of This Happening????

in #til7 years ago

Now I'm still new at this, but I have never heard of this happening before.

Last night, I posted about Silver, the rabbit that @smailer bought us, having four baby bunnies. Those bunnies were born on Sunday afternoon. We are very happy that they are all doing well, but then, something that I never knew was possible happened.

Silver gave birth to another baby!

Two full days later, another bunny was born to the same mother! The children were all very surprised, and delighted, and I was amazed when I got home!

Three of the original four have very light colored skin, and one has very dark skin on the head and back. This new one has a mixture of both.

This new one is doing well so far, but it is smaller than the others.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening before?

@gringalicious or @tee-em - Have you heard of babies being two days later from the same litter?

Whether or not you knew this was possible, I totally just learned something new today.

Also, for anyone not aware, a great new project is now underway on steemit! You need to be aware of this.

I was born in the country and I have seen all kinds of animals born, the color mixture is very normal, what is not normal is that they are born two days later, although I was only 14 years in the field I never saw I heard of late cases that were born alive, I have seen if they were expelled after some poor accommodation of the animal, but I always saw dead, because they are passed from the period of parturition. It is for a consultation to the vet wikipedia.
This is one more reason to celebrate my friend.@papa-pepper
Excelling news, the family grows. Congratulations

COOL, thanks again @jlufer!!

I'm assuming that you're going to be updating the progress of these little bunnies, right? I think we all want to see fluffy baby animals.

I used to have a pet rabbit. It was supposed to be a "dwarf." But it grew to be almost 12 pounds. We had her for about 6.5 years. Then, one day, she had what the vet thought was likely a stroke. She was probably the best pet I've ever had. All she ever wanted to do was be around my wife and I - sit with us on the couch and follow us from room to room. And we could do anything with her. My wife used to make her little holiday "hats" that she would slide over her ears. She would just hop around the house with little witches hats or Santa hats on her ears. Good times.

Keep us updated...with lots of photos.

Fun-Filled Fotos of Fur! - will be coming your way.

It brings back memories from when I was just a boy...

Thanks @ats-david!

Well I hope we don't get too attached to them in case they are to become "rabbit mole' " (pronounced mole -ehh) which I ate once as a child. I hear it is very good although I don't remember.

I don't think they can eat those rabbits, now that they've shared the pictures with everyone. That would just be cruel...to us. We're already attached.

yes definitely progress photos!!

LOL!! That is quite the visual you provided with bunnies wearing little hats hahaha!!!

Thanks again!

Different process there Buddy, but, as one who has worked in factories, I can agree, many people are lazy, like robots with no batteries!

I've not heard of it with rabbits before but it did happen to a friends cat when it was having a litter, The vet said that some animals can stop the labour process if they are stressed or feel threatened this little bunny is very lucky as it can lead to complications.

Thanks for the info, her condition did change, as we moved her into the house too help keep the babies warm at night, but it was several hours after the first four were born and she seemed to be acting normal for a new mother.

Thanks again, I appreciate the insight!

you're very welcome papa-pepper.

Really amazing, glad all the baby bunnies are doing well so far. I never new it happened.

Looks like you learned something new too!

Thanks @smysullivan!

Your welcome, did your right I did learn something new as well.

That's happened with my bunnies twice now.

Oh yeah, yo would have been another good one to ask.

How long in between were yours?

Very interesting and unusual.
But maybe now you will get new one bunny each day? :)

One per day for the next five years maybe!!!

That would be incredible, but we will have to see!

Thanks again, your 1 rabbit turned into 5 and now into 6!

Pretty neat - and it's great how other folks on Steemit had some real experience to share with you. I wonder what your kids will name this special little rabbit! #til indeed!

I wonder too, no one had mentioned a name yet.

What a great community for interaction, whether you're breeding rabbits or grabbing lunch in the woods!

Thanks @haphazard-hstead!
