Composite Functions
Most students have real trouble when learning about these type of functions. Once they get past the "I can't" phase it is actually easy to understand. A composite function is actually two functions, one inside of the other. This is what they mean:

It is asking us to plug in g into f, replace all of the x's with 1/2x - 4, and simplify.
