Hi, this is the Spanish translation: Noticias Steem @ 5 de febrero de 2023: Soporte Booming de las comunidades...

Greetings and blessings friend 🌺

Thank you very much for the translation.

My pleasure😊

Very grateful for your contribution for my daughter, God bless you greatly!

I hope it all goes well for you and your daughter.

I hope the analysis report will be helpful for the contest organizers in improving their future contest ideas and maybe make changes to the not performing ones.

Contests are a key part of the Steem platform. They seem to be trending upwards at the moment.

Do you think Team Millionaire is helping?

The votes certainly gave support for the organizers, but I don't see a clear upward trend. Total contest per day always ranges between 70 - 90 these days. There was a time I had 100+ contests in the list even before the Millionaire initiative. The all-time high was 138 contests. The real uptrend happened during the price hike, but as the price dropped, so did the contest count.

A lot of organizers then adapted to give booming support as the price and continued their contests. However, I believe team Millionaire can change the structural voting based on clubs, that can be a factor to consider for high votes but there should be other factors as well (Creativity / Participation count / Rewards). But then that will be a complicated job to decide the percentages. I know this because I curated with the team for two months. Overall, they are doing wonderful job to keep organizers motivated.

With all that, I'm still wondering,

  • What is the ideal number of contests per day?

  • Can any Steemian organize a contest, and will the communities support them?

  • What is considered a successful participant count for a contest? Is there an average number to measure this by?

  • Why do participants often stick to one type of contest and only participate in a few organizer's contests?

  • Do Steemians see contests as a key part of the platform?

Perhaps by conducting this analysis, I can answer some of these questions using data. This topic is open for discussion to find better solutions.

I am guessing prize value is one of the key factors that drives participation numbers.

But from my personal observations contests also have to be kept simple to get good participation rates.

Unfortunately that can limit creativity amongst contest organisers, and lead to many very similar contests.

But from my personal observations contests also have to be kept simple to get good participation rates.

I agree with this, from the several types of contests that I have held, I see that simple contests will get a larger number of contestants than usual, such as the [Top 3 Post Contest] I Am A Steemian And Proud To Be A Steemian - Season 2 which managed to get up to 38 participants in just two editions.

And speaking of prizes, we usually provide 9 to 20 SP for the best 3-5 participants. or maybe there are other suggestions from you @pennsif and @disconnect regarding the number of relevant prizes so as to attract participants' interest to be actively involved in every contest in the community.

That's wonderful! It is a topic that anyone can get involved. Good luck for the future seasons!

Well, I have a contradiction to both observations.

  1. Prize value: I had the same feeling that this is a major factor to attract participants. Because of this reason, I’m still arranging the contests according to the prize pool value as well. However, data shows that it is not the case as we thought. For example, if you see the 26th Jan stats, Steem plants had only 01 Steem prizes pool for its participants and had 08 contenders. Same day Culture Photography Challenge had a 10 Steem prizes pool but only attracted 06 contenders. I can list many examples as such.

  2. Simple contest format: For me, the simplest contest I’ve seen is “The Guessers Club”. 10 Steem prize pool is a wonderful bargain for a simple “type 03 numbers” kind of game. Yet, it only drew 10-15 participants weekly. I feel it should at least attract 50+ given the fact that it is open to anyone and it is a comment contest.

The utmost important factor for participants is to know whether the Steemit team supports a particular contest. That is the reason we get 100+ participants for Steemit Engagement Challenge. Then the reputation of the contest organizer or the community. If the organizer has a strong fan base there might be an increase in participation. These two are the most valid factors as I see.
