But,First What is Whale's vomit?
Whale's vomit is officially called "Ambergris ". It is the flammable, solid and waxy substance produced in the intestine of the Whale. It is produced to protect its guts from the very sharp beaks of the squid that the whale feeds on. Even though it is called vomit it is generally excreted or in other words pooped. Now of course whales didn't excretes it on the land or a beach , it is actually excreted 100s of miles in the deep ocean and it floats for years before ending up on a beach. Before washing up on the shore , it has the history of years of exposure of sun and the salty water which transforms the whales vomit into blackish compact rock with waxy feel. As the time pass the whale's vomit gains sweet and earthy scent due to years of exposure in salty water. It was first noticed on beaches of the Baltic. it looked like an amber and "gris" is the Latin for grey. Finally, Ambergris is know known as "Floating Gold".
Now, Why is Whale's Vomit Worth So more?
Generally, Ambergris is worth more that 1000s of dollars per pound. But who is buying this? It turns out the biggest perfume companies are the buyer. But these industries are not after the smell of the vomit, they are actually after the sticky properties of the vomit. Which means the ability to stick the perfume to the human skin for much longer duration. Whale's vomit helps preserve the perfume for longer by slowing down the evaporation.
In past it was used to treat headache and also was thought to protect them from the plague.

His name is Ken Wilman and his dog actually found it on the beach of Morecambe, Lancashire. He had a look only because his dog wouldn't stop barking. He only realized the true potential of he rock only after googling it. He is lucky to have dog like that.
