Lake Superior Rocks & Gems - Beautiful Bands + A Super Tiny Agate (seriously)

in #rocks7 years ago (edited)

Good morning Steemians! Here's a beautiful agate to brighten up your day! My day started off a little bumpy but that's life! My mood swings have been crazy ever since I quit smoking. I've also had some trouble sleeping, and I hope to put a positive spin on all the negativity in my life.

Lights Off

Another crazy looking agate under the light. If you see there's a really dark area that the light won't go through. It's all agate though! It just means that this was a part of a larger agate with lots of layers. The outer layer was very thick and dark and the inside layers were light with bands. The dark layer could also have bands too.

Lights On

Now this doesn't happen very often, but I kind of like the way this one looks with the lights on more. Lights off is always majestic to me, but this is beautiful.

Instead of letting the little guy ruin my shot, I incorporated him. This thing is small It'll fit under your finger nail small. Why am I even taking a picture of it small, but I was also testing the zoom feature on the S8 Active when I took these.

A really clear view of the bands here. The way the bands blend into the layer is pretty sweet, but I prefer the rocks that have non-stop bands for days. We'll get to one of those in a few days I'm sure!

This is the closest and clearest shot I could get of this rock. If you zoom in, it gets a little blurry. This blur was the same when I zoomed in more so it wasn't worth posting. Like I said, this tiny little thing can fit under my fingernail. Super small. I couldn't tell ya how I got it, maybe I found it at a kids park. I tend to sift through the sand for little ones, but this one is exceptionally small. I like the 3 colors it has. Looks like a little bug.

I have a bucket that I keep all the agates I've already posted in. One thing I'd like to do is get a good camera with a good macro lens and come back for a better closeup of the super tiny agate.

My last post I said I am looking to build a box to better display my rocks. I sat down that night and pieced it together. I plan on documenting the process but I haven't started yet, however; I have a pretty good design in place. Hopefully I can fill the box with sand and prominently display the rocks in a more artistic fashion. For now, this is good too because it's all about showing the art that nature created!

I share my rock and agate photo's exclusive with the Steemit community! Feel free to share your thoughts! Agates are formed in ancient volcanic lava. Over millions of years and the earths surface moving around, they are exposed through cracks and such.

So these rocks have taken millions of years to get to my living room and on your screen. New rocks are literally pushed to the Lake Superior shoreline every day and especially after every storm or windstorm. Every day hunting for agates is an adventure and I am almost always guaranteed to find at least one.

Thanks for stopping by! God Bless!

Nice find. I love the banding through the middle. Its a trip being the first person to touch something thats been around for millions of years. When I find a crystal I always think about that.

That's a different way of putting it and I never actually saw it that way. "The first person to touch something that's been around for millions of years"

That was a little mind blowing, lol

It is a trip to think about.
