#BLOG 68 : REVIEW MOVIE :BAD GENIUS

September is a lot of good films, so I went to see movies such as IT,Kingsman: The Golden Circle (I have reviewed these 2 movies, you can read the link at the end of the article) . A movie is very famous and I find it good is Bad Genius. This is currently Thailand's best-selling movie in 2017 and box office success in many neighboring countries. I do not feel wasted money and time to go see this film.

"Bad Genius" mentions a number of academic problems, particularly dilemmas, with innovative storytelling. From then on, the film evokes many meaningful social messages.
The test is very good for students, it is used to classify good students and weak students, how well qualified students are .. However, there are students have many tips to copy post, or not seriously in the test. That is the bad, negative issue that the film mentions.

Bad Genius is about Lynn (Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying), an outstanding student in high school. During the midterm test, Lynn successfully reminded her friend Grace (Eisaya Hosuwan).

Knowing the story, Pat (Teeradon Supapunpinyo) - Grace's boyfriend - suggested she remind the test for the rich in the exam in exchange for a large amount of money.

After several successful missions, the group decided to "play big" when traveling to Australia to cheat on the international STIC exam. But with the huge number of questions, they need the help of the Bank (Chanon Santinatornkul) - a male student with superhuman memory but upright and like "gossip." A lot of trouble starts here.

Bad Genius is one of the few works that deal with a sensitive but frequently occurring topic in the educational setting: exam cheating. This "close" story is now becoming more dramatic on screen in a very cinematic language.

Directed by Nattawut Poonpiriya, The details in the film are intense and intense, making the audience as if sitting in Lynn's group rehearsal room, watching breathlessly watching the actions of the characters or the steps of the supervisor.
The whole scene is carefully and deliberately clean and clear. The situation in the film follows each other and takes viewers to the story of Lynn and her friends.
In the first half of the film, Bad Genis showed off the "cheating" routines of the student group, such as writing the answer to the eraser or using the hand sign to mark. Each of the pages, each move of Lynn's hand, or each of the character's mentality is extremely nervous, dramatic.

In the second half of the film, Bad Genius turned to a movie (heist) with the task of transferring the test of the STIC from Australia to Thailand. The students step-by-step plan, practice, create a situation, and then perform it dramatically.

The 17-year-old team cheated years-old supervisors.

Music also plays an important role in Bad Genius. Classical music helps the listener to "ease the tension," but setting the scene to a dramatic increase. It also plays a pivotal role in portraying the line of character thinking.

In general, Bad Genius has shown that the ability of Thai filmmakers to reach the international level when they take viewers from one surprise to another by virtue of the script's cleverness and the entire staging story.

Does money make us change?

Another prominent success of Bad Genius is the way to build characters and create contradictory situations. Lynn was just an ordinary, smart girl, but the burden of money made her miserable. While trying hard to get the scholarship, Lynn realizes her father still has to pay a huge "facility" fee for the school.

Thinking of hardship with her father's small teacher salary, the young female student was forced to cheat on exams. That's the only way Lynn can study and change his life.

Meanwhile, the scene of the Bank is no different from Lynn. But he chose the right path and "say no to negative." But in the end, Bank could not resist life's spin and its cruelty. Boys with superhuman memory joined Lynn to do the "last mission".

The Lynn-Bank duo may represent the poor in society. They have to try their best to achieve success in life. But no matter how hard they try, they can not compare to the rich born like Grace and Pat.

By the end of the film, Lynn and Bank had only two paths to accepting fate or cheating to enrich themselves. The way they both "sin" is like the grim reality that no one can escape.

The other two main characters, Grace and Pat, are born to rich families. They just need to shed money to achieve the desired score without much effort. After all, they are still the most beneficiaries while Lynn and Bank are at risk.

If all goes awry, Pat will still be the boss of a large corporation with huge amounts of inheritance, and the gate of life changing for the other two friends will close forever. Social reality is exposed naked in Bad Genius through frank and philosophical dialogues.

If you study well but you are very poor, do you want to cheat to change your life and family?

Young actors in Bad Genius have done well in their roles. Just by a glance they can make the viewer feel easy in the heart of the character.

Like Lynn and Pat, they were just good students at the beginning, out of holiness. But as they step into the path of sin, the audience only see the dick and cold. The transformation is expressed by the actors are very subtle, persuasive.

Of course the humor element in the film is well built. Especially slow-motion footage at the right time makes the audience laugh.
Lynn Mathematics genius is not beautiful but still attracts viewers with eye-catching and engaging role-playing.

Chanon Santinatornkul (Bank) persuades viewers by the ability to transform the psychological personality from an honest student to an aspiring teenage boy.
The duo Eisaya Hosuwan (Grace) and Teeradon Supapunpinyo (Pat) are the two famous young actors in Thailand who contribute to the success of the film.

It can be said that everything in Bad Genius is calculated and processed very carefully, to the smallest detail. And what is disturbing to the audience when they step out of the movie theater, continues to talk and argue about the film is the end.

Someone said that Lynn "confessed" to the STIC exam board about her fraud carrying "education", some people assume that film does not dare to break away from conventional prejudices.

Here we do not discuss the "right" or "wrong" end, because it has already happened. In return, there is still a lot to talk about in the end that the film has not clearly interpreted.
