BLOG #38 :REVIEW MOVIE : PSYCHO
I've seen a lot of movies, but my favorite psychological thriller is called "Psycho".
Why is 'psycho' a popular movie?
The script of "Psycho" is adapted from Robert Block's best selling book, about the serial killer Ed Gein. This guy was quite famous in the 50s, specializing in tombs and steals of corpses throughout the tombs of the state of Wicosin, USA. After being arrested for storing the dead body in the home, the confessor killed two women in the years 54 and 57. Although not to the point of "serial killings," Ed Gein became the inspiration for many murderers. including screenwriter Norman Bates of Psycho.
Marion Crain (Janet Leigh) is an office clerk in Phoenix. In order to have money for his lover Sam (John Gavin) to pay family debts and get married, Marion steals $ 40,000 from his client. She rushed out of Phoenix. A policeman watches Marion, with heavy rains, leaving her to stay in a deserted home. The host is Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), living with his mysterious mother. The disappearance of Marion caused Lila Crane (Vera Miles) and Sam to enter, along with detective Arbogast (Martin Balsam). They do not know what horrible happened to Marion at the rest of the lodge, and it was coming to them ..
The horror of the film comes from the gloomy atmosphere and the meaningful layer created by Alfred Hitchcock, combining music, scene and creativity in the angles.
From the beginning of the film, Marion's escape has brought a sense of uncertainty and unhappiness. Stealing money is not a plan, but an unexpected decision, so there is no preparation. Since then, the film space has always had a considerable amount of tension, maintained and followed by many different details. The first is the boss caught Marion at the stop lights, until the police accidentally checked. Especially the hands of police, very scary when the viewer is placed in the circumstances of Marion.
A serious face, never give up the sunglasses from the eyes, as can be seen in the human heart. On the other hand, Janet Leigh's great acting contributed to the fear. Next to the heavy rain, obscuring the view of the car. The darkness ahead as the signal to the terrible end is waiting for. The film progresses in such a way that ambiguous fears automatically fall into place, and burst in the climax, in a very subtle way. The point of the film is that viewers can anticipate this girl will pay. But I can not shape that.
The horror is also reflected in the scenery, notably the office where Marion and Bates chatting. The space is very narrow and overcast, scattered over the stuffed birds. An owl in the upper left corner was draining it like a hunter, a shadow on the wall. As the scene turned to Bates, the owl made a strong impression. It represents an invisible judgment for Marion, the sinner. The owl is Bates, the hunter who is preparing to swoop down. The house where Bates' mother lives is also very scary. Luminous lights resonate with the shade of the tree, affecting the subconscious viewer.
In addition to the main content of the multi-personality disease (another great film about this subject is "Fight Club" featuring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton), Psycho also creates a psychic-related effect. St. One of the seven human sins referred to in the Bible is greed, the greed of which is punished. On the journey to death, Marion had the opportunity to be saved. If she tells the truth to the police (now an angel), or does not change the car on the road, then go earlier than the fateful rain, she did not have to die. Man has to pay for his sins. The scene of the washed blood represents the purification and salvation. Since Marion had decided to return the stolen money, she was cleared of all faults, despite the most dire punishment.
The most memorable scene is the scene in the bathtub when Marion is stabbed. Marion's face when screaming may be familiar to you..This film has become a learning material for film majors all over the world. It was when Marion decided to return to Phoenix and return the money. But just as she undressed and walked into the bath, she was struck by a sharp knife with a knife in her body.
This is the most scary and obsessive movie in the series that I miss most
in addition to the scene in the bathtub, murder scenes Arbogast murdered also deserve praise. No one knows what happened when Arbogast stepped up the stairs. The angle of rotation is set high, and the way the killer appears makes many people groan. The combined sound of footsteps, then the face of Arbogast when falling. The rotating angle is moved along with the face to form a dangling effect, depicting the panic of the detective's hand. Creative angles contribute greatly to the success of the film.
Anthony Perkins's acting as Norman's psychic is so convincing. Although not nominated for an Oscar, it has become a turning point in Bates's career. The dialogue with Marion becomes one of the memorable psychological scenes. Bates is always nice, then becomes angry when Marion attempts to take his mother and mental hospital, but the anger is so camouflaged. Then he drove the story of normal air. The scene shows Anthony's talent in expressing the psyche and occupying the frame. Later, Norman's role became Anthony's typecasting. He can not escape the shadow of Norman, and often plays the opposite villain.
In 1983, the second part of Psycho debuted, directed by Richard Franklin. Anthony is still playing Norman Bates, who is out of the hospital but is still mysteriously murdered by the mother and crime.
Overall, Psycho is almost perfect in terms of art. It is a subconscious horror film, going from deep in mind and long-term phobia. The only weakness that hinders the enjoyment of movies is time. As modern imaging has evolved, classical values are often difficult to perceive to new audiences. Far away from me, Psycho may be a good movie, but it can not be the most memorable thriller. However, Psycho is still a big monument, and with Fan of the horror film or Afred Hitchcock, this is a work can not be ignored.
I hope you will watch this movie, this is a good movie and the meaning of love.
