In addition to "Train to Busan", Korean cinema also hit horror movies in the summer of 2016. It was "The Wailing", which drew nearly 7 million views and was also praised by Cannes.
The Wailing is the third movie directed by Na Hong Jin - the master of the thriller genre.

You can see my posts at the end of the article.I have listed all the movies I have reviewed, but there are about 10 movie reviews I have not been able to enter. These are the articles I wrote 5 months ago, and I do not want to find them again because it will take a long time.

I would like to introduce to you another famous Korean movie. I have reviewed 2 famous Korean horror films, a romantic drama .. and now I'm going to give you another movie ^^

Content ..

The film opens as a criminal story. In the remote Gokseong village, police Jong Goo (Kwak Do Won) is involved in investigating a mysterious case. At the house of the massacre, a thin man, an ulcer, bleeding all over with a white eye in front of the door. He killed his whole family. According to the preliminary judgment, the police said that the perpetrator was eating a poisonous mushroom that became wild. However, forensic results do not match. The collective deaths continue with other families in the village.

Local people reported that the Japanese mage (Jun Kunimura) lived nearby causing the spell. Someone who has warned me to eat raw meat of wild animals and red eyes like a demon. From here, the film circuit suddenly turned horrible direction. When Jong Goo goes into the investigation, his family becomes a victim of magic.

After the intro movie trailer, The Wailing returns to the classic story in horror movies - except evil. The film details the process of Jong Goo's daughter being controlled by evil spirits. From a girl who is obedient, innocent .. Hyo Jin (Kim Hwan Hee) becomes gluttonous, the body appears bloody and tends to violence. The remake of the horror genre in Hollwyood - The Exorcist (1973).

However, in The Wailing, the story of exorcism is bold Korean color. The interweaving of the investigation gradually enters the dead end and the spiritual tragedy of the girl creates ambiguous relationships..

Hyo Jin's health is getting weaker as the story gets more complicated. One of the most impressive scenes of the film is the segment of Il-Gwang (Hwang Jung Min), who performed the exorcism. In traditional costume and music, Il-Gwang performs a chicken-necked ritual, swirling around the fire ... His white shirt is dyed red animal blood. The peak of the night was when he was pointed at the dummy's heart. At this moment, Hyo Jin feels her chest explode.
However, Jong Goo and his associates turned their attention to a Japanese old man (Jun Kunimura) who moved to live on the mountain near the village.

All the strange events in Gokseong have only begun since the arrival of the Japanese. Some rumors suggest that the old man was naked in the mountains, eating wild meat and having blood-red eyes. It becomes more complicated when Gong Joo decides to break into the Japanese home

'' The Wailing '' is a complex, puzzling movie. Throughout the film, director Na Hong Jin uses the red herring method to harness the trust of both the main character and the audience. Nothing is clearly defined in the work, even until the last minute. Viewers are constantly questioning who is the real villain? The mysterious Moo Myeong (Chun Woo Hee) always appears in the scene of all cases,
Il-Gwang exorcist or scary Japanese guy is the mastermind? Entering the climax, the relationship of these three characters is more ambiguous.

Many details in the film are metaphorical. The main character of the film - policeman Jong Goo - has committed three sins in the Bible. Jong Goo is an irresponsible policeman, greedy and lazy. He can not let go of hatred. Because of his revenge for his daughter, Jong Goo killed the Japanese.When he uses his car to stab a Japanese man, instead of going to save the Japanese, he hides the corpse,..It was Jong Goo's sins that cost her his daughter.

With dramatic storytelling and scary images, The Wailing not only leaves the spectators obsessed, but also leaves deep philosophical values. This is the new breakthrough of director Na Hong Jin in the line thriller.

With 156 minutes of slow motion, The Wailing is a real challenge for any audience, especially because of the ambiguous and controversial ending. Director and screenwriter Na Hong Jin has intended to create works like jigsaw puzzles that each viewer has to glean in order to find solutions.

Throughout the film, Jong Goo did not know what he needed to do to save her daughter.

The scare and despair of Jong Goo and the whole Gokseong villagers in the quest for truth is a terrible fear that can make anyone to "fear" as soon as the movie has closed.
