Introducing a Moon Cakes from Singapore - 看看一盒新加坡的月饼 (by @ace108)
In celebration of the mid-autumn festival, Chinese will eat moon cakes. I've mentioned this in my post where I briefly introduce mid-autumn festival:

I know some people (even in Singapore) do try to make moon cake at home. Most people purchase their moon cakes. Moon cakes are such a huge business that hotels, restaurants and many bakery are into it. In fact, Swensen's which is known for their ice cream restaurant sells moon cakes. Even Starbucks stores are selling moon cakes in Singapore. In big shopping centers, it's common for the shopping centers management will setup a big event space for hotels, restaurants and bakeries to sell their moon cakes. One example is Vivo City and I have pictures of the setup in this post:

There is not many hours to mid-autumn festival and the moon cakes are starting to sell for bigger discounts. The same moon cakes bought last week will be cheaper today and tomorrow. The same ingredients and package in the same environmentally unfriendly box. Here are some pictures of a box of moon cakes my wife brought home today. The filling is white lotus paste with macadamia nuts. Often the box is filled with 4 moon cakes.The reason for the hole was because I ate one before I thought of writing this post. :-)

我知道有人（甚至在新加坡也有）会在家里做月饼。大多数都在外买月饼。月饼是这样一个庞大的商机。酒店，餐馆和许多饼包店都有卖。在新加坡主要销售冰淇淋的Swensen's和星巴克都想分一杯羹。在大商场，常见的商场管理设置大场地让酒店，餐馆和饼店做他们的月饼促销。怡丰城就是个例子。之前我有一：帖也分享过怡丰城卖月饼的情况：

很快就到中秋节了。月饼已经开始有更大的折扣。今天买的月饼会比上周买的便宜。同样的馅料，同样的包装。这里是太太买回家的一盒月饼。里面是白色莲蓉和夏果。盒子里通常装满了4月饼。那洞是因为我吃一个后才决定写这篇文章的。 :-)

Actually, cake may not be the right word but it's a name stuck for god knows how long.
The second Chinese character 饼 could mean biscuit or cookie but google translate it to cake too.
It's more like a sweet pie with the filling mostly sweet but sometimes there meat or salty version and the thin pastry on the outside.
