Who was Arthur Schopenhauer?

Arthur Schopenhauer was born in Danzing, Poland, on February 22 1788.
Schopenhauer's father died in 1805, possibly as the result of a suicide and this influenced Shopenhauer's life and way of thinking very much. I think that his pesimistic way of seeing everything also came as a result of his father's death.
His mother, Johanna, was a writer and intellectual who started a literary salon in Weimar after her husband's death.
Schopenhauer enrolled at the University of Gottingen in 1809. In 1819, Schopenhauer published The World as Will and Representation which would establish his career as a philosopher.
While living in Berlin, he was convicted of assaulting a woman named Caroline Marquet after she refused to leave his doorway, and would make payments to Marquet for the rest of her life.
He was a big fan of Plato and Immanuel Kant and many of his ideas came from them.

Arthur Schopenhauer died of heart failure on September 21, 1860, at the age of 72, at his home in Frankfurt.

• Reading is thinking with someone else's head instead of ones own.

When i read a book i always try to understand why the author think the way he does. What are the reasons behind his thoughts, and I try to understand as much as possible about the way the author used to live his life.
While reading a book, if you are lucky, you will find a passage which gives you insight regarding their reasons, methods, and thought process which lead them to a particular conclusion.
In that manner, you are actually seeing inside their head, and thinking with theirs, instead of yours.

While reading we can discover different perspectives on life or on certain subjects .
Even if I don’t always agree with the viewpoint or conclusions of the author, it is nice to see the world through different eyes. Many times the new way of looking at things is worth the effort to get through the book.

• Let us see rather that like Janus—or better, like Yama, the Brahmin god of death—religion has two faces, one very friendly, one very gloomy...

Religion tends to have two faces because religion is made by men to acchieve power.
No religion should be about fear.
God doesn't teach us to punish nobody, God is about love not hate.
But religions are nothing more than the word of God modified by man in order to rule over people.
So is not the word of God that is gloomy, but our missinterpretation of the word of God.
God teaches us to love each others, yet humans made wars and killed millions in the name of their God.
God teaches us that we are all equals, yet we kill people because they have a different skin collor, a different religion, or they come from a different country.

• Genius and madness have something in common: both live in a world that is different from that which exists for everyone else.

Every genius will be seen as mad before people by those who don't agree with or understand what he is saying.

The problem with human beings is that, we are afraid of the unknown, and this limits us very much in order to make new discoveries.
If somebody see things differently from how you do, listen to him with an open mind, and try to understand why he thinks that way. What are his reasons? What are his proofs ? Always listen carefully and with an open mind.

Oggi vi invito a tutti in un viaggio alla scoperta delle quote di Arthur Schopenhauer che secondo me possono cambiare la nostra vita,e come sempre le accompagnerò dal mio punto di vista e opinione personale.

Chi fù Arthur Schopenhauer?

Arthur Schopenhauer è nato a Danzica, Polonia, il 22 febbraio 1788.
Il padre di Shopenhauer è morto nel 1805, presumibilmente a causa di un suicidio e ciò influenzò molto la vita e il modo di pensare di Schopenhauer.
Sua madre, Johanna, fù una scrittrice e intellettuale che aprì un salone literario nella città di Weimar dopo la morte di suo marito.
Schopenhauer si iscrisse all università di Gottingen nel 1809. Nel 1819, Schopenhauer pubblicò "Il mondo come volontà e rappresentazione" il quale stabilizzerà la sua carriera come filosofo.
Mentre viveva a berlino, fù incriminato per aver assalito una donna di nome Caroline Marquet, dopo che lei rifusò di allontanarsi dalla sua porta, e per questo motivo dovrà pagare rimborssi alla signora Marquet per tutta la sua vità.
Lui era una grande seguace di Plato e di Immanuel Kant ,e molte delle idee che lui espone durante la sua vità furono influenzate da loro.

Arthur Schopenhauer morì per un attacco cardiaco il 21 settembre 1860, all'età di 72 anni, nella sua casa a Francoforte.

Citazioni e opinione personale

• Leggere é pensare con la testa di qualcun'altro invece che con la propria.

Io mentre leggo un libro cerco sempre di capire perché l'autore la pensa in una certa maniera. Quali sono le ragioni che si nascondono dietro i suoi pensieri, e cerco di capire il più possibile il modo in cui l'autore vive la sua vita.
Mentre leggi, se sei fortunato, potresti incorrere in alcuni passaggi che ti faranno capire le ragioni i metodi e il processo di pensieri che hanno guidato l'autore a una determinata conclusione.
In questa maniera tu stai praticamente vedendo nella loro testa, e pensando con la loro testa, invece che con la propria.

Mentre leggiamo possiamo scoprire diversi punti di vista o pensieri riguardo alla vita o ad altri argomenti.
Anche se non sempre mi capita di essere d'accordo con il punto di vista o le conclusioni dell'autore é comunque piacevole vedere il mondo da un altra prospettiva. Molte volte il nuovo modo di vedere le cose vale la fatica di leggere il libro.

• Vediamo piuttosto che, come Janus - o meglio, come Yama, il dio del Brahmin della morte - la religione ha due facce, una molto amichevole, una molto oscura.

La religione tende ad avere due facce perché la religione é fatta dagli uomini per avere più potere sugli altri.
Nessuna religione si dovrebbe basare sulla paura.
Dio non ci insegna a punire nessuno, Dio ci insegna l'amore non l'odio.
Ma le religioni non sono altro che la parola di Dio modificata dal uomo per poter dominare su altri uomini.
Quindi non é la parola di Dio ad essere oscura, ma la nostra interpretazione della parola di Dio.
Dio ci insegna ad amare gli altri come fossero nostri fratelli, nonostante ciò noi facciamo guerre e uccidiamo millioni di nostri simili nel nome di Dio.
Dio ci insegna che siamo tutti uguali, ma noi uccidiamo persone perché hanno un colore della pelle diversa dalla nostra pelle,o perché provengono da un paese diverso dal paese da quello da cui veniamo noi.

• Genio e matto hanno qualcosa in comune, entrambi vivono in un mondo che é diverso da quello che esiste per tutti gli altri.

Il problema di noi umani é che siamo terrorizzati da ciò che non conosciamo e questo ci limita molto quando si tratta di fare nuove scoperte.
Se qualcuno vede le cose in modo diverso da come le vediamo noi, ascoltiamolo con una mente aperta a nuove idee, e cerchiamo di capire per quale motivo la pensa in una certa maniera. Quali sono le sue ragioni? Quali sono le prove a favore di ciò che sostiene?
Ascoltate sempre con una mente aperta a nuove idee.
