in #quotes7 years ago

Hello fellow steemian!! Today i would like to share with you the most life-changing quotes, (in my opinion), by Swami Vivekananda.

Who is Swami Vivekananda?

His real name is Narendranath Dutta but he is know by the name of Swami Vivekananda.
Born in Kolkata on January 12 1863 and died in Cossipore on July 04 1902 and lived his life as a Indian mystic.

His master was the guru Ramakrishna and based on his instructions Swamy founded the Ramakrishna Mission wich purpose was to promote the fraternity between the addepts of different religions knowing that **all religions are different forms of a unique and universal religion.

He wrote many spiritual texts and many of his thoughts with the purpose to integrate the Western culture with the Eastern culture.

I'm not very interested in his life so i will stop here talking about it.
If you are interested go search by yourself or ask me in the comments and i will give you some videos or links.

Best Quotes and Personal Opinion

  • Do not lower your goals to the level of your abilities. Instead, raise your abilities to the height of your goals.

Always set high goals , do not hesitate in what you desire.
The bigger your goals are the more you can acchieve.

A goal gives you an unstoppable energy and positivity to overcome your own limitations and that of your environment.

At the end of it, if you haven't acchieved your goal, there is no one to blame, no one to fight with, but you and you alone.
We are responsible of our own failures and we should learn from every failure and see it as a lesson that needed to be learned.

Once you start to believe that you can acchieve your goal, you do all it takes to put it in motion. You stretch your limits, learn new skills, and work on becoming more capable.

  • Books are infinite in number and time is short. The secret of knowledge is to take what is essential. Take that and try to live up to it.

There is an old Indian legend that if you place a cup of milk and a cup of water before a Raja Hamsa, he will take all the milk and leave the water. In that way we should take only what is of value in knowledge and leave the dross.

We must not go blindly into anything.

When we read any kind of book we should look at it with an open mind and analyze it in order to find out and take only that which is good for increasing our general knowledge.

In every book there is a lot of knowledge but we have to look deep in order to find it.

  • By the study of different religions we find that in essence they are one.

I'm a guy that have always been curious on all religions.
At the beginning i was thinking that all religions are kind of enslaving man but after a short study i started to find out that the religions were not the problem. The problem is the interpretation of the word of God.

Even if i did not studied much, i took a look at Buddhistic, Christian , and other religions and i found out that the principles that the Christians teaches are the same that every religion teaches.

So the word of God is only one, But man interpreted it in many different ways so they could take some more money from the people and make them live in fear.

God teaches us to love each other and we are still making wars against somebody that follow a different religion....
