Today is a new moon and my first day in Steemit!
Hello! Namaste! What a great time to begin my first appearance in Steemit! Today is the new moon of the month. But really, who would bother to know what phase the moon each day have? Well, honestly I am one of perhaps the majority of people who don't really bother to see the moon at night. Days would pass by and I couldn't care to see the sky at night. In this modern time, it is so easy to forget about how gazing at the magnificent sky lit by multitude of stars and a bright moon can be quite romantic, philosophical or scary depending on who's with you.
When I was a little kid, the center of attention in the house was the television. I remember how we as little kids are addicted to watching TV. But I also remembered how my grandfather would prefer to sit outside every night to watch the moon and the stars and experience his time of peace and silence while we are absorbed in our TV viewing. Sometimes, when our city had some power interruption which could last upto three hours, this gave me a chance to sit with grandpa outside the house and appreciate his beautiful and peaceful night under the cooling moonlight and the glittering stars. It would become quite philosophical sometimes when I would start to dwell on the thoughts on the existence of the universe and life as a whole. But the moment the power would came back, then easily I would forget about what I was thinking as I now would rejoice with my other neighbors who would all be running back inside the house to catch up with the TV show.
Now, we have smart phones, tablets, laptops, game consoles and many complicated types of entertainment gadgets that have replaced the television. But if you care to look at the sky tonight, you may not see much of the moon as it is a new moon. This however is a good reminder that a new cycle has begun. A new beginning towards the full moon.
According to astrology, the moon represents one's emotions and feelings. So on this new moon day, I coincidentally begin my account here in Steemit. Hopefully here I can gradually express and share all my moods and feelings on certain issues which I hope can be fruitful for all. I hope to meet new friends along the path to a brighter full moon.
So in brief let me introduce myself. Like everyone else, I am a spirit-soul who happened to be entrapped in a material body. And actually this is not the first time. For countless times, I have been born again and again in different types of bodies in different universes. Luckily, because of my past activities and my frame of consciousness in my previous death, I have taken birth in a human body forty seven years ago. I was raised up in a pious Christian family where I learned many fundamental principles of moral and unselfish life. This leads me to a teenage life full of idealism, and altruism when I had my share of help and involvement in some humanitarian, environmental and socio-political activism. It was in my college years, when my body was 18 years old that I came into contact and became more interested with the Vedic philosophy in India, especially the teachings of Bhakti yoga. From then on, my search for the ultimate goal of life has become more and more clear to me. In year 2000, I left everything and stayed in an old monastery in India. I became a full time practitioner of Bhakti yoga and have the fortune to live with some very highly realised teachers who later accepted me as like one of their very own family members. With them I have traveled to many wonderful places in India as like a wandering monk. Thus my account name here is mobilemonk. But my teachers named me Chandra which is the sanskrit word for the english word 'moon'.
So let me begin from here. I would love to share many wonderful things, practical and philosophical, to anyone who follows me here in Steemit. Until next time... Radhe Radhe!
Excellent
